I think you guys have been hacked into. Either that, or you've got a huge fascination with certain drugs enough to call it tech news.

It's not defined as "tech news" -- it's "Consumer Advice."

Nevertheless, there are a lot of people who read PC World who are potential customers of those kinds of sites described in the article (I'm not one of them).

The more warning they get (from a reputable source like PC World), the better!

I'm not into pot but I believe that if marijuana was legalized, it would deter people from looking for other alternatives which can be far worse for your health. Let's face it - that's what people are looking for - a legal alternative.
Although this isn't a tech article, I'm glad I read it. I never knew some of the legal herbs were lethal!

Kudos for informing kids young and old, all that glitters is not gold! After reading your article, one would have to be insane to experiment with these drugs. Legalization of Marijuana, and opiates would prevent the foolish use, and possible death these herbs, plants and seeds provide.
Legalizing the above would also tend to cut the consumption of alcohol, one of the deadliest drugs of all, and it's legal! Now that's insane!

You know water is lethal if you try to drink too much of it too fast, right? Most of the problems relate to people who don't do the proper reasearch, but instead see a news report labeling something as "The New Acid, and it's LEGAL!!!", and think wow, great, I'll ingest 15 times the threshold dose of something I didn't even take five minutes to research.

And why is this on PC World again?

I'm the author of the series of articles that make up the story package ?Click to Trip: Risky Drugs Flourish Online,? and here is how I believe this story and other ?click to trip? stories relate to technology:

The Internet is making the world smaller, allowing remote tribes to market psychoactive herbs anywhere in the world and entrepreneurs to retail them online. As a result, any kid with a Web-connected PC and a credit card can have very powerful drugs delivered to his/her doorstep within 24 hours. The legality of these drugs, the efficiency of the Internet, and the global nature of e-commerce combine to create a disturbing reality for many parents, law enforcement officials, medical health professionals, and substance abuse councilors.

The Internet can be a wild and woolly place. PC World has reported on the sale of prescription drugs online; on how your privacy is at risk online; on how online advertisers have at times been overzealous; on dubious digital camera sales online, and how stolen credit cards account information is being bought and sold online. In fact, we view our commitment to consumer advocacy as a major differentiator between us and other technology sites.

Technology and the ?real world? cross paths every day. I do my best to spot the largest intersections and describe the resulting conflicts, problems, and successes.
