Nick, with all due respect, do your research. Crackulous is a free, open-source app. The "author" you're quoting is a scammer trying to sell others' work. Try using the original source instead of third-party account. It's all on the front page of Hackulo.us.

Try-before-buy is not a right, nor is it a valid excuse for piracy. Many 'lite' versions of apps are available if the developer wants to provide a preview.
Nobody cares about the tragedy of a hacker falling on their sword - this whole story is just dreamed up for publicity.
