I have a new Canon Camera A590is with an SD card .. when I plugged it into the usb XP did not acknowledge it.
When I went to My Computer to see it if found it ... it took 2+ minutes for My Computer to scan until it returned with no indication that it found anything.
I have rebooted and tried it again several times and XP has never acknowledged the device.
I tried Scanners and Cameras on Control Panel and that just hangs.
Now any time I use My Computer I have to wait 2+ minutes for it to search for the non existent usb device.
So the question is how do I find and get rid of the bad USB entry that plugging in the camera caused ???
Thanks
Ray

simple fix, get a card reader... or if you want to get the camera to play nice with the computer, see below
directions for getting to device manager-
start > run > type 'devmgmt.msc' (no quotes) > click ok
goto the device manager when you plug the camera in and look for a yellow exclamation point in usb/unknown device
if a yellow ! is present, get the cd that came with the camera and put it in the cd-drive> right mouse on the yellow ! and select update driver (let the computer automatically search for one)
hope this helps
