Hello,
2 nights ago I woke up about 4AM to hear my temperature alarm going off. Instead of it stopping itself, it kept picking up the beeping speed until I finally had to unplug my computer because it was unresponsive. When I turned it back on a few hours later, I got a blue screen of death - 0x000000ED UNMOUNTABLEBOOTVOLUME. When leaving it unplugged for most of the day, I was able to successfully turn it back on and (thank god) I was able to use the Backup My Entire PC feature in Vista. Then last night I was woken up at 2AM to the same thing that had occurred the night before. Now when I try to boot several hours later I get a simple 0x00000024 BSOD. I was able to run chkdsk /r yesterday before the computer had quit working again, and it found no problems. Lucklily I was able to backup beforehand, but now my first internal drive (vista root) has an odd noise. I know this drive is now bad and I probably have to send it back to Seagate (this is one of the models that has the firmware defect - I tried updating it with no luck). However, unless I unplug both internal drives, I can't get my Vista installation CD (x64) to load. It will get to the Microsoft Corporation screen with the green loading bar, but it will go no further. I am using AHCI, and when I first installed Vista I had to install a floppy to load that driver. I had done the same thing now with no luck either - I can't even get to a place to load them. My PC is a custom 4GB RAM 500GB ST3500320AS HD 2.51GHz AMD Phenon 9850. How can I get this to work and (hopefully) run a repair install?
Thanks.
