Please someone....help. Why does my mouse quit working. Freeze's up!!!!!!!

Hi, You will have to be a little more descriptive than that. In particular, what king of mouse is it. By that I mean mechanical ( Little ball inside ), Optical or wireless. coastie65

My mouse is new.......2 month's. Wireless, Logitech. Computer is 1 year old. Emachine, WinXP. Changed batteries. Thanks.

Hi, If you can help me great. While I am asking questions.......My clock keeps changing to Maritime. 1200, 1300 etc. I go back and set it but goes right back to 1200, 1300, etc I like my clock to read est 12:45...or what ever time it be at the monent of time. Are these to problems related? Thanks

Need a little clarificaton here. Do you mean that the clock keeps reverting from AM and PM time (3:34 PM), to 24-hour clock time (15:34), or does the computer keep resetting to the wrong time? If it's the 24-hour clock thingy, how are you resetting it (give us the steps)?

Time keeps changing by itself..........to 24 hour time. I go to contol panel and fix it but when I look later down it has changed. Right now it says 16:39 and it should read 4:39 p.m. Thanks

I have one as well that i got for Christmas. The batteries do tend to go rather fast and is somewhat of a downside. Rechargeables are the worst. coastie

Too ad to the problem with the mouse: My control panel show's correct time.....5:15 p.m. BUT the screen clock says 17:15 Go figure. Thanks.

Just to verify... In Control Panel/Regional & Language Options (or just type INTL.CPL in the Start/Run... dialog box), you're clicking on the Customize button, then the Time tab, and changing the upper case HH (or ) to lower case h, and making sure that the AM Symbol and PM symbol settings are set to AM and PM respectively, then clicking the Apply button, then OK button? The whole Time Format string should be h:mm:ss tt. If it still changes, we can try a registry fix if you're comfortable with that.


If you're doing all of the above, and the time is still reverting to the 24-hour format, it's possible that your CMOS battery is weak, and needs to be replaced.

Please tell me what a CMOS battery is................ Gosh I hate when I don't know something I should know. I'll keep you informed. Thanks for the help.

Hi, Well the thing with the mouse has been SOLVED !!!!!!! It seems that....my mouse (wireless) and hubby's wireless mouse were interferring with each other. The mouse would work fine while hubby was not on his computer. Then when he got online my mouse would start locking up. So he changed his mouse to his laptop mouse. Then the problem got solved. Thanks for trying to help me.

Hi, Happy to hear you solved your problem. Thanks for sharing that. That was certainly an interesting solution and was definitely not on the radar. I am assuming the wireless mice are of the same make as this could be a problem. It was good troubleshooting on your part as well. coastie

Hi, It's nice to know there are people out there to help others. How long have you been doing this? There is nothing worse than having a computer that doesn't work properly. How spoiled we get. What did we ever do before computer's became a household item? I never could balance a checkbook before computers came along. Now I know where every cent goes. Thanks again for all your help.

Hi, I have been playing with these things since the early 80's. I still balance my checkbook the old fashioned way. :D Helping people, if all possible, is what we enjoy doing and it is always a pleasure. As a general rule, we get good results, with a rare stumper thrown in. I think it is remarkable that we have such a knowledgeable bunch here. coastie
