Microsoft only needs to check occasionally during downloading updates that your copy is valid. As it stands, anytime you need to download IE beta 3 you need to prove you are using a legal copy of XP. It makes no sense what Microsoft is doing. Yes, they want to prevent piracy, so do most people. But checking all the time is stupid and will eventually come back to bite them in the a. If software pirates want to use illegal software they are going to find a way to bypass any anti-piracy security measure taken. It has happened in the past. It will happen in the future.

I sent microsoft the message that I might have a pirated XP.They then overtook my computer with the WGA notification logo.Since Vista is going to be released soon, I do not see why I should get the genuine article when I will get the real thing with Vista. But I would appreciate them getting out of my system. It is against my privacy.
