I have a lot of song files on my computer. The problem is, they are not very organized.
I want a program that can take all my jumbled together songs and
organize by the ID3 tags. If the program could organize in a
Artist/Album/Song folder hierarchy, that would be great.
When I say organize, I mean having the program physically organize the
programs by folders (folders you would see in Windows Explorer). I
already have my music organized by Artist/Album/Song etc. in Media
Player, but I want them organized like this in the My Music folder.
Any help?

I don't know of a program that would do that automatically, but if you don't want to go to the trouble of organizing it yourself, you could do what a friend of mine does which is drop all music files into one folder and view the folder in Details view so that you can sort the list by artist, album, etc. You can do the same in Windows Media Player and a few others.

iTunes can kind of do it...I think. When you rip music from CDs in most such players that can rip (I know iTunes and Windoze Media Player will do it), the program will put the music in the players default location in a specific way. Usually, it is set to first put it in a folder labeled by artist, then by album.

I believe that iTunes can go further by doing this to music "added to the library" (i.e. not ripped but just imported in) IF it is set to also "Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library" (you can have iTunes keep you music where it is located on your hard drive OR move it to the default storage location that iTunes uses, which is the iTunes Music folder).

I don't know if this will work for sure or not, but I believe it will. When I get a spare moment I will try it out and see if it does.

If it does work, then Windoze Media Player might have a similar ability as it has a similar storage pattern when ripping songs from CDs.

I've had several programs/jukeboxes over time only to have them eventually decide to discontinue the free program, whatever.

At the moment i am using "realplayer", i like it. Just got itunes for my ipod, but prefer the realplayer over it i believe, still checkin' it out though.

On your recommendation I decided to give MediaMonkey a try and it's similar to but much better than Windows Media Player. So far, the only significant problem I have with it is that it's a little buggy so it shuts down occasionally, especially with corrupted music files. Thanks for pointing out that program.
