Morning all!

....If Steven Jobs announced the release of the iTurd...that is a riot. I finally took the plunge last November and purchased an i-Phone after a lengthy and considerable internal dialogue--do I really need that? and it is an i-Thing, after all--and I love it, even despite all that it can't do "yet." Rest assured , however, there will be no faux- flatulence coming forth from Carl's jail-broken phone...ha! I suspect that I am considerably older than many of you (49) and less knowledgeable, having come to "things computing" around 2000. Being at heart a renegade soul, I remember as I was learning by trial and error how cool it was to was to bash the Wizards of Redmond because surely they were intent on dictating what I ate for breakfast and wore to work. With more experince and a tiny bit of wisdom, that attitude seems fearful and silly now. I love the way that the Open Source community has broadened the horizons for all of us, regardless of the platform. I love that I can drop a copy of Ubuntu or Freespire on one of the older rigs that come my way and get around passably well with a little effort.

At any rate, I got a good laugh drmac, thank you. And Wintard, about the Stone Age...nice.

I agree with you on the open-platform! And love to laugh too!

Now here is my contribution to the infamous "i" used all over by the Apple brand especially the ultra-cool and sexy MacBook all aluminum (note minus the ever so important "i" in num)

Instead of dumping garbage into our landfills, why not go the green route, and um, renovate the junk? Yeah a face-lift, remodelling. Has anyone considered the extremely green environment friendly material wood?

I call it the Mac iWould, I'm sure Woodie the wood pecker would approve!

Hey! you're not the only one using Linux, I am too!

I agree with you that PC != Windows. But also PC != Linux. ;)

PC == [EVERYTHING
!
And that includes: Microsoft Windows and Apple MacOS and OSI and GNU Operating System (of which Linux is only the kernel)...

Personally, I do not restrict my horizons. I do not understand why people have to use the logic OR, instead of AND? Why switch? Why only speak one language? Simple minds will tell you because it's better... Pretty lame uh?

The comment was that MP3 is playable on almost all music players (this includes smart phones, hand held players, computers, home CD/DVD players and car entertainment systems) as opposed to AAC. Now maybe a few players other than Apple will play it, but taken the spectrum of all the music players in the world, AAC is very limited in its uses. If you have a player that plays AAC fine, but the majority of the people in the world do not. In fact, more people have music players that play WMA than AAC, yet it also is a minor player compared to MP3. When nothing else will play, MP3 most likely will.
And taken the volume that most young people play their music, the extra presence in AAC is lost anyway, because most have already permanently destroyed some of their hearing. As one who does have hearing loss from Military Service, I feel sorry for them. It will only get worse as they age, that is not an opinion, it's a medical fact. Teenagers are the the peak of their hearing acuity, and that is precisely when they start playing loud music, and it just goes downhill from there.

It depends how you define 'more players'. If you're a choice-junky and mean more types of players - you're right. For me 'more players' means the most players i.e. the proportion of all players sold then the call goes to AAC. Far more music is also sold in AAC than MP3.

I can copy MP3 files onto a CD and play that CD in several older CD portable players, either of my vehicles or my DVD player, none of which will play AAC. I can copy the MP3 files onto an older iRiver music player, but it won't work with AAC. Apparently neither will Windows Media Player 11 with Vista Home Premium. But, then I really don't care. The devices I have all work with MP3, and so I shall stick with MP3.

This is the first time MSFT has had a commercial worth watching. And it has nothing to do with Apple. I like the fact that they are advertising some known facts.
The I'm a PC commercials may spew a few facts, but making them into a comedy is not so smart.
MSFT commercials features teh lil kids doing simple pc stuff is a good idea too....lets she that treid with a Mac. I am will to bet Apple is training a robot that looks like a human into following up..
this is Tj and I a a PC.
