Ok I'm a huge anime nut and download quite a few from torrents. But my issue is this: I recently came by some videos in the .mkv format which I CAN play with WMP. BUT wmp does not allow them to be added to the library. Since I can't find any fix for that I tried to convert them to .avi or .wmv format both of which wmp will allow to go into it's library.

There are a ton of converters out there and I tried a few of them with no luck. In several cases just the act of converting one file from .mkv to .avi made everything in my library display no picture in wmp when played.

So my questions are: 1. Is there a decent, reliable, FREE video converter out there that can help? OR
2. Is there a way to say "trick" wmp into allowing it to add .mkv files to it's library?

Any info would be great. And yes I know I could just go to the actual file location and play it from there but I want my library to be organized and with videos missing from it I actually start to forget I have them.

BTW I am using the K-Lite Codec to play the .mkv files.
