Answer Line asked the question re delete some but not all of my browsing history. I have IE7 and the comment by member Adama as to how to do this does not fit XP or IE7. Tools/History is not valid. There is Tool/Internet options/general and then browsing history. Clicking here gives the option to delete history. I does not provide any right click or otherwise to be selective in deleting sites. Under Tools, the first drop down menu is " delete browsing history", but this is just a shortcut to get to the same no option to be selective to delete. What am I missing here? Is this for Vista or some other version of IE7?

Hi rettort, In IE, at the top left, you will see a tab labeled favorites. Click on it, and the a tab labeled history. You may be able to selectively delete from there. coastie 65. ( This is for IE8, but think that is the samr for IE7 ).

You need to be viewing the history side panel. Open this view by hitting the following key combination: CTRL SHIFT H. The option is also available from View --> Explorer Bar --> History.

From there you can right-click each web address and select Delete.

By "favorites", I assume you mean the conventional bookmark listing. In the IE order of items, it is left ot "tools". If that is the favorites you mention, there is nothing at all re History. In "Tools" there is, but it is titled "Delete Browsing History". and in that there is no option to be selective about sites to delete. It is all or nothing. Perhaps IE8 is different.
I may be not understanding the "Favorites" you mention but i can find no other.

Thanks, that is exactly what I was looking for. Seems like MS designed a strange access to get to it but it works just fine. i would have never tumbled to what "Explorer Bar" is for. I do note that the only options are for today yesterday and last week...doesn't appear to be any options to go back further.
I appreciate the quick response. I can only assume that the article in PC and the other resonse I had apply only to IE8. You are indeed an "Old Hand" at this.

You're quite welcome.

I think that's because Internet Explorer is set to automatically delete old history when it gets to a certain size. If you want to change this option, go to the Tools menu in the menu bar, select Internet Options, in the General tab go to the Browsing history section, click the Settings radio button, and in the Temporary Internet Files section, type in the maximum number of megabytes that you want the history to use.

Thank you very much. You've been very helpful and I'm getting an education.
