I'm starting to hate AVG Free for multiple reasons, and am looking for other free options. For a firewall i'm using Comoto firewall with proactive defense disabled (the other person that uses this computer claimed it bugged them too much with tons of popups with complicated technical reasons), and i'm wondering if Comodo Internet Security might yeild better results.
So question: Is Comodo Internet Security (free, not pro) better than AVG Free?

Is Comodo Internet Security Better Than AVG Anti-Virus Free

Quackstar2, I have tried Comodo Internet Security, and as I recall I wasn't impressed with it, though I can't remember exactly why. I think the interface seemed really... Juvenile... for lack of a better word. Also, it just didn't seem as effective as AVG, and gave as many or more false positivies. There's plenty of free anti-virus options, but they're all lacking something. Avira is a decent one, but every morning you'll get a popup you have to close, and if I remember right, it doesn't scan email. AVG doesn't scan for rootkits. Avast free doesn't have a scheduler, but it scans email and scans for rootkits, and there's no popup. I'm not sure what BitDefender Free Edition is lacking, but someone else might know- I'm sure it's limited somehow. I've tried and experimented with quite a few different free antivirus products, and I stick with Avast myself.

:D Hi :
Would AVOID the "Comodo Internet Security", especially after reading through a Thread
about it at forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=41708.0 , which has 233 Posts and
viewed around 8500 times; particularly interesting in that Thread are Posts by "sded",

I use Comodo firewall, and like it, although it can be extremely annoying for the first few weeks, or until you learn to work with it. I does stop incoming and outgoing dead when it should. I've seen mixed reviews about the rest of their stuff though, so I'd probably go elsewhere for antivirus and anti-spyware.

I have comodo firewall, I haven't tried the security but I have not heard much good about it. I dropped my AVG about a year ago for Threatfire, and I am very pleased with it. Threatfire is almost a "set it and forget it" type program. I run manual scans once every week or two. My computer has been free of any malaware since I installed it. I alsoscan with other antispyware programs and none of them ever find anything. So I am happy with the combo of Comodo and Threatfire as my active internet protection programs. I hope this helps.
