Phil,

In theory I agree with you. However, my brother has a NetZero dial-up account because DSL doesn't go to his area and cable is too expensive.

Unfortunately the reality is that all the vendors now assume that everybody has high-speed access. Installs and routine maintenace are terrible! These massive downloads take forever on a dial-up line. In desperation I occationally bring my brother's laptop back to my place (an hour and a half away) to do the updates on my DSL line in a reasonable amount of time. My brother is totally fed-up with dial-up, and he really doesn't do that much other than typical e-mail and web surfing. Unfortunately, in the real world, dial-up is a total frustration for even your average user.

Libray have free WiFi and free computer

Starbucks have free WiFi

Barnes and Noble have free WiFi

Jack in the Box have free WiFi

Does anyone know if McDonalds have free WiFi?

Hi bbvammy. If I may challenge the quoted statement, not all of those establishments have free access. The vast majority of Starbucks and Barnes & Noble locations in the Philadelphia metro area charge for access to the internet. One can connect to their network with no problem. Once an attempt is made to connect to the internet, a pop up appears requesting payment. I cannot say that all of these locations are the same but I do know that there are many. I have never been to Jack in the Box so I cannot speak for that. I do know that McDonald's charges as well.

The company for which I contract has something called iPass that gets the user past the payment requirement. There is no charge to the end-user but the Cost Center that the end-user is under is charged.

Hey MPH !!



You should move to Canada, get hooked up with Bell Canada and you

would get Free internet access in Starbucks. Also , with Telus Canada

(our mobile telephone) we also have free internet access in Starbucks.

There are other places where they (mobile phone) provide free internet

access. I don't use them but, my youngest does. All she has to do is , upon

being prompted , she enters our account # and a Password and she's in.

Nah, way too cold in Canada for me but thanks for offering. :D

Sprint has been very good to me over the years. Before I bought my smartphone, I had a mobile broadband account. I could bring that mobile broadband card with me whenever I needed internet access.

Now that I have my smartphone, I use it as a modem using PDAnet. Since I have the Simply Everything plan, all I do is connect the phone to my computer and open the PDAnet application on my phone. I get higher than DSL speed and never have to pay an extra dime.

I havehad noproblems with nezer sofar. But I just like to know how I can change the battery on their hotspot.
Anyone has the knowhow ??????????
