I am wanting to buy a new laptop in the next couple of months $800 or less preferably. It has been about five years since I last bought a laptop so I am really not sure what to get. This laptop will be for my wife for now. Mostly she will use it for searching the internet, storing some pictures but not a lot, and will use it for work occasionally. I would like for it to be fairly quick, good memory, and be durable. Thank you for any help.

Hi 379 . $800.00 you can get a decent laptop with Intel 2.00Ghz core 2 duo ....300GB Hdd......4GB ram but it will be WDs Vista for now .

If you can wait , Wds 7 will be on the market in few months and trust me it'll be MUCH better than vista.

If you must buy now...: Check these out....:

the hp dv5z is a perfect web browsing and working laptop

one note, vista doesnt give the computer the best of battery life- ~ 2.5 hours

3gb of memory (preferably 4)

this computer is very very fast

best of luck in finding a new computer
