You betcha, the Apple Netbooks will certainly strive to have iPhone appeal. Wasn't the MacBook Air their first netbook? It was almost as thin as the iPhone too.

I scuba dive internationally and have been dismayed at the Apple product line for people like myself, who travel with bare bones carry-on luggage to make room for our photo/video equipment. A big problem is having device to transfer large files that cameras and HD video are now equipped to handle. Last year I bought a 160GB iPod and Apple camera transfer device from Apple before my Thailand dive trip, only to find out in Bangkok, that Steve broke the device with the classic iPod model. Then replaced that model with an older 80G 5G Video (which still works with the CTD), only to find out the battery dies before the large transfer finishes. Grrrr....
Eventually I had to buy a rather primitive device (in comparison to Apple technology) called a Colorspace (300GB HD model) which did the job well, but it only transfers files and with a low resolution screen for viewing, nothing more. My 12" iBook would work, but it's still just to big and heavy at 6lbs to take along for the ride.
How I would love a netbook to run Photoshop and connect to the web via wifi or use as a 3G cell phone device like the new Sony VAIO P series netbook (weighs 1lb 2 oz). It has wifi, 3G cell, built in webcam, free GPS and runs Windows XP...very nice.
Bring it on Steve!!! All us world travelers and other "lighter is better" micro types are just biting our lips waiting for a bigger version of the iPhone that can run OSX and has the features of the Sony VAIO P. It'll be a blockbuster, you'll see. I'll be the first to buy :-) if you don't, I'll have to buy the Sony and run XP. Please hurry. Thank you.

I also travel internationally -- world wide usually, and as a dedicated Mac user, I need a very light minimum sized Mac to bring with me. If it can support 3G internally, that's a plus, although I could use my 3G cell to connect it to the web if necessary. But any 3G has to be via GSM using SIM cards, else it won't work in almost any other country outside the US. I always buy SIM cards in the country I am in at the moment to get onto the local network, although usually it doesn't support 3G like I would prefer. So I really hope Apple gets on the ball and offes a $500 netbook Mac.
