when i turn off the computer(usually when it freezes up) I turn off with the button on computer, but the monitor stays on with what i was working on still there, then with in a minute it will turn off, but when i turn off my modum it goes off right now. why does my computer not turn off when i push the on/off button on the computer.

Which button are you referring to here?

Well, this is exactly what you need to do to power down your PC.

Next time the computer freezes, press and hold the POWER (on/off) key on your PC case for a few seconds, until it shuts down completely.
