JR and Mike - it looks as if you have spend some time here. We have most of your characters. I can actually put userid's to a few.

Let's face it, most of us here have been guilty, at one time or another, of being one of the forum stereotypes in the article... by the way... it's user ID's :p

Yeah, I remember getting jumped on about my long winded posts. :p I thought I was offering valuable details. Twitter is for those with a limited vocabulary.

Looks like it's a copy/paste job from this site. I hope Mr. Reed was compensated.

Conspiracy! Conspiracy! lol.
Funny to see all the characters from the story played out within its own comment section. :)

AOL is thick with these types of sad souls. Race or religion or distorted political views are the basis of every remark they make. And they make these comments knowing that there is no one at AOL watching, despite the "report this" button. (I would do that job for nothing if they'd let me.)

You forgot one...Me..."The incurably "Deranged" Has a little bit of all the above qualities. There is no hope. Mankind is doomed. Scream that world is unfair. Get rope, find tree, hang self.

Ah, yes. The Nihilist. There's also Eggshells, the person who is offended by basically everything and manages to turn even the slightest joke into an excuse to lecture and guilt trip everyone else. And his opposite, the person who says knowingly offensive things and then blames the other person for being offended. I can't think of a name for this one yet, suggestions?

Great article! Unfortunately, similar village idiots get paid big bucks as political commentators on cable TV and talk radio. It was easy and fun putting those names to this list. Thanx for the article.

I see all of the types mentioned, in the article, have already posted.

Damn, I'm always late.

I think you should have mentioned names. :^0

Coastie: Not long winded, just comprehensive. I've had both approaches and opposite responses. Some say I put it in to simple of terms and others comment I'm too technical. I guess this comes from having to explain things in both technical and non-technical terms to people I'm unable to judge what their skill levels are without having to ask a dozen questions to gauge their education levels. Damned if I do and damned if I don't. Can't win so why try.

"I can scarcely imagine the social interactions likely to occur at FIRST!Camp."

I could see something like that showing up on an episode of "Family Guy". It would be hialrious. For 10 seconds, at least.

Great article. I know I've been a few of those people at one time or another.

Hah! Awesome!
The one that's missing, though, is the guy who invariably comments, "Reading this was a waste of time!" :P

Let's not forget those who will post a question asking for help on something. Then they post again ten minutes later saying, "Isn't anyone going to answer my question?" Another ten minutes pass then they write... "Okay ... ANYONE? Can anyone answer my question?". Then they wait fifteen minutes before posting, "Well obviously you guys don't believe in helping people! I will take my question elsewhere!"

I can't tell you the number of forums I'm on where these folks lurk. I don't know what to call them though... "411 NOW Warriors?"

Here's another to add to the list:

The journalist who has a message board set up to allow people to comment on an article but deletes postings from anyone who disagrees with his or her comments. (Not singling out this article bu the way.)

This is post is right on. Everyone wants to point the finger at someone else but not many of us would admit to been the insufferable bores talked about here. Anyway, loved the post and LOL the whole time.

LOL I fully admit to being Sermonator sometimes...well, maybe Crusader or One-Man Band would be more accurate titles, a person who can go off at length when started on a particular subject. And I am a moderator on a couple of forums, but sometimes I forget to 'turn it off' and start junior-hosting boards I don't work on. I think half the fun we have when reading lists like this is picking out which ones we are...especially when the illustrations resemble us. :)
