It Takes a Village Idiot: The Jerks of Online Forums

THE FURY
I wonder: why are you so angry, so nervous, so scandalized, so prejudiced,
against the forumists - from all over the Web? After all, there are many
other categories of people who deserve to be blamed, for their lawless, more
than the one you incriminated. For example, the "malware" creators; or the
"hackers"; or the "spammers". Or the guys who are writing dishonest reviews
respecting hardware and software products. What disturbs you more: a poor
forumist, or the "unexpected guest" - named "taquito.exe" - who has just
landed on your PC (without your consent), coming from a USB device?
In my opinion, those who are creating (and maintaining) blogs/forums have
a greater guilt than those who are posting on them. Yes, the incompetents,
the dilettantes, the impulsives, the psychopaths, should not be allowed to
say something, on blogs/forums. But if they CAN do it, if they are allowed
to do it, they are doing it! The Garrulity, today, it is encouraged, by the
forces of the Darkness. Because it leads to the decomposition of the talker -
be it chatter, or forumist. "You are free to speak", in our Age, it means, in
fact, "You are free to die".
What the author criticizes, from the tip of its nib!, is the result of the
so called "democracy". Despite the fact that Mister JR Raphael has quite
accurately identified and described the main types of "pathological blog-
gers", he said nothing about the real causes of this phenomenon. More
of that: his animadversion is not a constructive one.
The author is producing an "inverted" writing. He is telling us what is NOT "normal";
instead of focusing on what IS "normal". Some of us, we would like to find out, in
what exactly the "normality" consists, in his vision.
If he is so bothered by the mob of uneducated bloggers, why is he not
proposing solutions? If he is indeed preoccupied by the people's fate, he
must also try to help them - to change; to become better; to broaden their
cognitive horizon...
It is very easy to say, to someone: "Hey, you are as clumsy, as stupid!". But
it is very hard to learn him not to be so clumsy. In this matter, the author
of this "article", is not shining at all. Thus, he will endlessly confront
himself with the "bad" bloggers/forumists. If someone's actions are not pro-
ducing any good changes in the Ecosystem, they are useless; or, worst, they
are harmful. Therefore, I am asking you: what have you done, Mister Raphael,
in order to change the "unbearable" situation about which you complained?
Also, the readers might think that Mr. Raphael is writing only to prove its
intellectual superiority; especially because he is using neologisms, and an
academic-level language - less appropriated for PC World's (web)pages.
I think that each Forum Administrator is responsible for his members' con-
duct. It is not the business of a magazine editor to give sentences and to
execute people. Each Admin. has his/her own rules. Each country has its own
legislation. Mr. Raphael should make this kind of appreciations, limited to
HIS Forum/Blog. (If his bloggers/forumists are how he claims that they are,
how he described them to us, than Mister JR Raphael has a problem...)
From a certain point of view, Mister Raphael has a little from ALL the
anomalies he enumerated. He has, more or less, THE SAME defects as the
bloggers/forumists about he harangued.
I do not know why, but I lived the sensation that Mister Raphael has
not wrote for the triumph of the Truth; nor that he wrote for the sake of
the Art (of writing). He wrote only to hit in "someone" - on whose success
he is envious; and/or furious.
Mister JR Raphael, Sir:
Why are you transforming PC World Magazine's pages, in a "fortress" for a
personal quarrel?
P.S.: do you still have villages in America? After so many floodings and
tornadoes, it is amazing!

And we haven't had many floods or tornadoes here either, but since it is Georgia people go nuts when it snows more than an inch. It's kind of funny really...I'm from NC so I'm still from the South but have no problem driving in snow. I've driven in a Cat 2 hurricane before (had to), snow is nothing.

Firstly, I am not a "guy". I am a lady. My FAMILY name is Siegfried.
And I live in Germany.
Secondly, I "wasted" only nine minutes to write my intervention.
Plus two more minutes, to check its spelling.
According to the American agencies, only in April month (2009), there
are recorded/reported 257 tornadoes! This means an average of more than
8 tornadoes per day!! If you think that this is not "much", than you are as
your name suggests it: insane.
See for yourself, the statistics, here:
www.spc.noaa.gov/climo/online/monthly/newm.html
In the year 2008 there is oficially recorded a total of 1691 (significant) tornadoes!!
I do not intend to "waste" more of your time with all kind of statistics
about severe floods, hail and thunderstorms. You can easily find them yourself,
if you wish. I am not a climatologist.
Also, as a woman, I do not need to write, in order to make myself remarked...
And now, please tell us: who is writing "stupid" things?
What is "stupid" in my short essay? Back to argument...

Hey Shannon, I'm in Richmond Va., about 100 miles inland, and I still remember the inconvienience of Isabel in '03. We were without power for 8 days and we were lucky. We do get Tornado's, but not real often. My Grandmother had a Farm in North Carolina about 21 Miles west of Elizabeth City, and they caught a lot of stuff. Ok. That is enough with the OFF TOPIC stuff. We see all of the authors people here at various times. Can't be avoided as they are probably on every board. As a Moderator, I just tolerate them as long as they stay within the Community Standards. Granted some can be more annoying than others though. coastie

I thank you very much for your warm reception! Us, the inhabitants of the Northern Europe,
we are sometimes "cold". But we have warm hearts. And we are preoccupied by what might
be called "fairness".
We also have problems with the "extreme" weather, here, in Germany. There is absolutely
nothing funny in being the victim of a natural disaster. I simply did not enjoyed the expres-
sion "Village Idiot". I find it, somewhat, vulgar. In consequence, I reacted accordingly: with
a joke - of the same caliber.

Second, 1660 toradoes is not much at all. When you are the Size of Europe you can have alot of tornadoes without bothering a mass of people. I personally have lived thorugh at least 30 hurricanes and a few tornadoes, they are not as bad as the news says they are.Why didyou bring up tornadoes? Just to insult my country?
third, sorry I didn't guess to exact minute how long your worked on it.I didn't realize you timed yourself.
And seriuosly, why do you have to insult me? I wasn't trying to insult you at first? Oh and I like the insaneAmerican thing, thanks for pointing that out :D

UK to Australia. If the news agencies have announced that your country has been
severely hitted by tornadoes, and I quoted them, do you consider this an insult??
Please reply to the gods, not to me. Or, if you wish, forbid to Reuters, AFP, CNN,
BBC World and wether.com to publish "insulting news".
And, excuse me, if I commit an indiscretion, why have you chosed the nickname
"insaneameri"? Please explain us, what this juxtaposition means: insane + ameri?
YOU are the one who insults your country, by joining the word "insane", with "ameri"!
Next time, before posting, please read more carefully what I wrote. I only pointed
out that my family name is Siegfried. I am not a queen. I am a psychiatrist. My time
is strictly divided. I literally work with the watch in my hand.
I am sorry, but now I have to prepare myself to treat a patient who suffers from
"persecution mania".
Till our next meeting, please take a look at this recent "non-bothering" event:
www.weather.com/multimedia/videoplayer.html?clip=2907&from=news[utop[/u]video]
If you do not have something useful to say, please forbear yourself. Go and watch
the stars - from a house whose roof have been ripped off by a tornado.
auf Wiedersehen!
