I've never downloaded music before and I need to for my web site. Can anyone tell me the best free download site and how and what to click on my computer to complete the task. Please be specific because for example, I only recently learned the differences in CD's (adio vs. video). When it comes to music I'm that bad. Bye the way, I want to download both to my C drive and to a CD, not to an MP3 or ipod. Thanks

You likely will not be able to get assistance on this issue depending on what sites you mean.

If you are talking about using file sharing type sites to download commercial music that you typically would have to pay for, then discussing such a thing would be violation of the Community Standards (located here if you want/need to read them: http://www.pcworld.c...ommunity.html).

If you talking about Public Domain music sites or music sites that offer free music that is not otherwise sold, then that could be a different matter. The former of the two will be no problem at all as Public Domain music is available for free and generally can be used for any use. The later still might be a problem as it might be free for you to down load for "personal use", but not be free if you plan to "re-broadcast" it (which using on a website could be construed to be "re-broadcasting").

Note: I should have been a little more precise...

You will not likely be able to get help here. If you really want to do that and don't mind the potential legal repercusions, then you can find your answers elsewere.

Personally, I would advise against getting commerical music from free download sites. I personally don't do it and I consider it stealing (unless it is Public Domain or "freeware" music).

Why not get your songs automatically rather than downloading? I have been using the iGetMusic software for my iPod and it easily rips 1000 songs a day. I cannot imagine how much time I would have to spend to download a similar amount manually.
