Congratulations PCWorld, you just alienated at least half of your readers/surfers. I will NOT be renewing my subscription. You can tell us there are the same amount of ads, but if the ads are bigger and more obnoxious, how do you think that comes across to us. It's too bad you guys thought that your old site wasn't "fancy" enough for us simple folks. Question: Who complained about the old design? This new one is NOT going to hook the people who check the site out, if this was my first time to the site, it would also be my only time. It's harder to read, and navigate and it's not easy (why does the previes star out the word "h a r d"?) on the eyes. It looks like someone JUST learned how to use flash and they had to cram every bit of code in that they thought was neat. I agree with the post that called it "amateurish".

I agree with PatuxetnBBall. I liked the old simple PCWorld site. The new site may look good and fancy, but it doesn't feel quite at home like before. Take a look at PCMag. They now made a new site of their own too, and although I'm not too pleased with how it ended up, I'd rather go on PCMag than PCWorld now.

Hey I love it, there just trying to do more for you.I always wondered why there was no forum on pcworld.comEverywhere you go on the internet there are ads, ads everywhere these one's here arn't more annoying then the norm, except the ocassional flash onscreen ad for pc world subscriptions itself. These skyscraper ads on the side and the banner ads at the top are barley noticeable to me. If your sick of ads get use to it your on the internet on a commercial site. I barley came here before the forum unless there was an artical on the newsletter I wanted to read. I enjoy the interaction and the community, and I happen to like the redesign.

Yeah, you used to 'barely' visit PCWorld, but I have been visiting it almost everyday every since I was 14 years old (although I'm now only 16 this year). This used to be my favorite site, but now, it bothers me that the site have diminished this way, and also very surprised that some people actually like this site. No offence, but PCWorld screwed up big time.

I personally find this layout more attractive, sure the old one was simple, but this one is more mature, in my opinion.

[quote name='drofenaz']Chill folks... y'all will get used to it. Perhaps my comments aren't valid because I rarely visited the "old" website (or at least the Forums) and wouldn't have known there was a change had I not read about it here. But, I have been online for many years. And I've experienced format changes on many sites and forums. Nobody, at first, ever likes change. But as drofenaz said just chill. I bet, with time, you will get used to - and even like - it!Now then, I came here to ask a question. If only I can figure out under which topic to post it....

Well, you wouldn't have been able to visit the forums until the site changed. The forums were born at the same time we changed our look. :)

There are alot of ads, and the one on the right can be annoying, but overall I am really pleased with the new look. Also, kudos to the person with the forum idea :)

I've given myself some time to get used to the new design and I have to say I don't like it. The overall appearance is harsh, and worse, difficult to read. True, I've had a prosthetic lens put in one eye, but that only assures that my vision is corrected to very good. The shading to dark as the eye progresses downward on the page leaves me peering harder and harder as the reading progresses. If you changed your colors from burgandy and black to orange and lime green, it would be bad, too, but would not make the overall effect worse. On the other hand, I still make PC World website my first choice when looking for something pc related, so I'm glad about that.A comment about the paper magazine which I've been reading since the mid '80s. I like the ads. Some times they are the way I first hear about stuff. I don't admire those ads that look line articles nor those articles that look like ads.

I'm still debating the look of the site overall but the addition of the forums is great. I regularly visited PCWorld.com prior to the new look. Since the change to the new site I have had a lot of trouble with "Error on Page" messages resulting in pages not loading at all or loading as jumbles of text. For a while I dismissed this behaviour as MSoft's botched patch that required disabling HTML 1.1 or my blocker software interfering with the ads and popups. I'm still having the problem about 1/3 of the time even though I have loaded the new MS patch and disabled my ad software. Is anyone else having issues of this type?

Hi Jon,Can you be more specific about the trouble that you are having? Are you getting the look of the site (black background, red top navigation bar) but the text is jumbled? When you say jumbled, do you mean overlapping? I'm happy to look into it for you but I need some more specific information.I think the forums are pretty great too. ;)Kellie

You've advertised "new feature" of being able to save "My Pages". When will it work? I have tried on numerous occasions, after signing in, to save a couple of pages. However, each time I return to site, they've always disappeared and My Pages are reset back to 0. New site apparently needs some work.:(

Hi CLBLACKALLER --So if I understand you correctly, you are signing in, saving pages, navigating away from pcworld.com, then coming back to pcworld.com and your pages are no longer saved. Yes?Are you closing your browser, clearing your cookies or cache during that time? Are you trying to access from two different browsers or computers? What browser and version are you using?I agree that it should not work like that, and I'm happy to report your problem to the tech team. I just need some more info first. Thanks!

Hi Kellie,The page loads as if it's lost some of the format codes and always has a message in the bottom left corner with a yellow triangle and exclamation point saying "Done, but with errors on page." when this occurs. When I linked into this discussion tonight, the page came up OK. When I jumped over to the page where I am on composing this post I got the error message as noted above. There is no black background and the banner/title bar does not go across the top. At the very top of the page are two "PC World" logos stacked on top of one another, the very top one being slightly larger. Below them, again stacked vertically, are the other elements from the top title bar, Reviews, Hardware, Software&Web, etc. Below that is the "Search PC World" box. This stacking continues on down the left side of the page, I don't know HTML but I imagine it would be like what you would expect if you removed the HTML command that arranges page elements, without the code IE will just display page elements in order from top to bottom along the left margin. The text does not overlap, it just doesn't flow correctly due to whatever is messing up the page's format. It appears that almost all of the page elements are displaying in the stacked arrangement that I have described. Items that are supposed to be links are underlined as such and mousing over them causes IE to display what the link's address is at the bottom of the browser window. The "Forums" section of the page that I am in seems to retain its format and is laid out the full width of the screen with the various elements arranged correctly. If it would be of any help, I can take a screen shot with a digital camera and send it.I have dual monitors, at the moment I have the PC World home page open on my other monitor and it is displaying correctly. I just sat here clicking links off that page in the hope that I could re-create the behavior but it loads each page that I link to correctly. I am not experiencing this problem with other sites on the web but I am at a loss as to what is causing it at pcworld.com.When I hit preview in preparation to posting my reply the new page loaded correctly with the black background and all of the banner/title elements laid out correctly. I'll post this anyway in case my description of the problem helps.Jon? [quote name='kellie']Hi Jon,> > > > Can you be more specific about the trouble that you are having?
