Posted Image <----- Do you see my little avvie there?

Yep! You got it.... I just downloaded Firefox!!!!! hahahahahaaaaa It only took me 2 years of you guys bugging me to use FF and well.... here ah izzzz....

Boy, it's really fast! I don't know all the things that I'll be able to do with it, but at least, it's living in my computer now. I had to download the latest version, the 3.0.10, because I couldn't find the one you guys were talking about being better, so we'll see what happens!

Yay!! I have a new toy to play with.... (jumps up and down, even though FF didn't let me upload more than one pic) : :P :D

Now now, Flash... you don't have to shake your head in disbelief... now you can finally stop worrying about me using IE8 - I uninstalled that thing too! LOLOL Now I'm back to Internet Explorer 7... meh... will wonders never cease!

And, so far... NO CRASHES! YAY!!!

Congratulations!
3.0.10 works great even on these forums so you should be fine.
Now, get cracking with the Firefox Add-ons. :) Make Firefox do what you want.

Hey Number6! Long time no see, my friend.

I'm going to check them out sometime this week. I've just spent 2 hours and 20 mins with an IT trying to unfreeze my computer. So, I have a lot of stuff to do before I go full-hog on FF.

Take care and thanks for the link! :D

Hey sweetie !!

It has been too long since you last visited us. I miss you around here

and hope that all is well !

I will not say any more than I have to about you joining the Firefox ranks.

This was totaly up to you. You are now obviouly ready to try it out .I am

pleased that you did.

This latest version and starting with the 3.0 version does have it's limitations

on this board. As you found out , you can only upload one screen shot per post.

I have Not updated to this version for the same reasons. I am still using the

OLD and Unsupported version of 2.0.0.20. This one also has limitations on

other boards to which I belong too but, since this is my home well , I will

continue to use this unsupported version. Maybe the new software that we

are getting will make things better and then, I will be able to update.

Now, tell us , what was your notebook suffering from this time. Could one of

us have helped with it's ailment ?? Over two hrs. is a long time to be typing LOL!

Did you at least resolve the problem and did they offer advice on how to

prevent what just happened ?

It's good to hear from you again.

Bonjour, mon cheri!!!

How are you, Flash? :D Yeah, it was good getting here using FF, as all went without a hitch. So you have an old Beta version, eh? I think I'm just going to use this one I got and see how it works for me.

Right now I used Internet to get here, I wanted to see if there were any crashes since I downgraded to Internet Explorer 7. But.... so far, so good... knock on wood! hehehee. :p I had no idea that IE8 was going to give me such headaches and frustrations. The last time I was here it crashed or stopped 14 times, and the 15th time it totally froze.

My son called me yesterday afternoon and we were talking about our laptops, and he told me he had uninstalled IE8 because everything kept crashing. That's when I realized that IE8 might be the culprit behind my problems getting to PCW. So, IE7 is working fine - the way it should - and I'm happy to have it back.

I couldn't get on the Internet this morning! My computer kept freezing up, and Trend MicroAV kept trying to upload itself and wasn't allowing anything to start... my pointer kept spinning... I couldn't click on anything.

So I called my trusty IT friends and got connected to a guy who has been there for 16 years! We went around and around, with him on the phone. He had me do a System Restore and that didn't take care of the problem. Finally he had me restart on SafeMode and I was able to get on the Internet, and to him, and he came in remotely, and started checking everything out.

Everytime that we/he tried to do something, we'd run into a brick wall. We went to the TMAV website and tried downloading their uninstall tool, but the page wasn't working. Later he found out it was outdated and he got a better link, and we/he was able to uninstall that thing. This was after 2 hrs and 15 mins of trying to find out why my laptop wasn't letting me/us do anything! Once TMAV was uninstalled, we were able to get on the Internet and I to my homepage.

So, the culprit was Trend Micro AntiVirus! I was waiting until May 11 when my subscription would be finished to uninstall it, but I'm glad that that thing is gone! Now I think I'm going to look into AVG since it's free. He recommended it very highly. Not so with AVAST, which he installed in his son's computer and gave them nothing but grief and he had uninstall it. He also spoke very highly of MBAM and SAS, and he has those in his personal computers at home too.

He's the one who said that everyone should have two browsers for when things like these happen, and we went to the Firefox website and downloaded it for me. Unfortunately, since we were still on Safe Mode, something happened and we had to do another System Restore (we did 4 in all) and so I lost FF. But, when we finished and I was able to get online, I went to Mozilla and downloaded it myself! LOL :0 :D :p
* So, I learned a lot today:

* 1 - I learned how to boot up on Safe Mode and on Safe Mode with Networking.

* 2 - I learned about TMAV.

* 3 - I learned about the IE8 FIX IT download which uninstalled IE8.

* 4 - I learned that after you uninstall IE8 with the FIX IT download, IE7 is automatically reset/reinstalled.

* 5 - I learned about Firefox and how to download it.

* 6 - I also learned that there were some remnants (about 4) of the old Norton Symantec program still loading up on startup. (he disabled a bunch of useless stuff that was starting up when I started up the computer) Phew!!

Anyway, it was a morning I won't soon forget! So, I came here to answer your post and to say THANKS A LOT for all your support and your encouragement.

And thanks so much to ALL my dear friends here at PCW, who have always been so kind and good to me.

Ok, gotta run 'cause I have a couple of projects to work on and haven't done a thing on them yet - and it's already 5:05 pm! Yikes!!

Cee ya later, guys! :x :x

Glad to have you back. I couldn't understand when you said your internet kept crashing, but I had forgotten that you went to IE8. I agree with your friend that you need two. When I installed FF3 and discovered we could only upload one image on this website, I would post, upload the one image, and then close FF, open IE7 and load the other images.

I agree with MBAM and SAS, but don't understand his comment about Avast!. I have it on all of my machines now, replacing AVG. When AVG went to version 8, they started including an anti-spyware component. If that is the case, then run SAS as a run on demand not automatic.

Hi RG!

Thanks for the tip on how to upload more than one pic to a comment. I had actually thought that I might have to do just that, so next time that I need to upload something I will try it.

I know, I was surprised too that he said AVG would be better than AVAST. I know that you guys here at PCW like AVAST much better. So.... I stil have a few days to make up my mind because right now I'm still using MBAM and I'm running the scans regularly.

I'm also going to switch over to SAS, the paid version, so that'll take over when I uninstall Webroot SpySweeper - my subscription is also up on May 11.

Tried FF a couple of years back for about 3 days and didn't like it. I don't particularly like going through the gymnastics of switching from browser to another anyway. As for Spysweeper, I get that for free anyway so may as well use it. I do have SAS in here for a redundant scan though.

I know what you mean Coastie, I just couldn't understand how people could go from IE to FF at the click of a button.

You know how very reluctant I was about switching, it took me 2 years of you guys trying to get me to switch... LOL :p But, now that FF is living in my computer, it's just a matter of clicking on it and away I go....!

And, I still have my IE anyway, so we'll see how it goes. I do not believe I will totally abandon IE as that's what I cut my internet teeth on, so it'll always stay close by... right now I'm on IE it's in my blood I guess.... LOL :p :D

I'll have to sign off for now because I have to get ready, my BFF and I are planning to go to Costco to get some things.

Take care! :x

Finally you join the firefox crew lol. What seriously took 2 years to adjust? It takes me literally a couple seconds to adjust to a new browser. I guess you just like my uncle who still is using IE7 and won't change. I guess i had a change too finally after 2 years of running XP i am officially back on Vista SP1. I don't plan to go back to xp on my main pc.

Hey lil, I just got an evga 9800GT 512 Mb Video Card. Haven't installed it yet. May just leave it as a back up for the time being. I was a bit waty of the 50w PSU, but I see you are doing Okay with the 450w PSU though. As Isaid earlier, I tried FF a couple of years ago and didn't much care for it and rolled abck from IE8 to IE7 yesterday. Will stay with that for the time being. Actually, my tool bar & Browser is MSN Explorer, although I have IE7 in here.

What psu are you running coastie? My 450 runs it fine because it has 33amps plus it has a dedicated 12v railing. If you are looking for a psu i definitely recommend corsair. They are so quiet even with a 120mm fan.

Hi lil, It is in my sig. , but it is an antec Basiq 500w. it had 12v on the rails and 18w. It supposedly has a dedicated PCIe connection, but I'll have to chaeck again as I don't remember seeing it. Right now, It is a back up as I found out after ordering it, my 8600GT was still alive and well. The 4 pin atx connector on the 20+4 thinghad come unplugged, so I lost some juice and couldn't power the card.

lol.

Adama, what I do like about Firefox, is the ability to move the Icons, back, forth, home, etc., to wherever you want them, compared to Internet Explorer which tends to have them at the edges, I like mine in the middle. Posted Image
