Hi Everyone,

These times are full of changes. I'm sorry to share that my position at PC World has been eliminated and I have been laid off. My last day with PC World will be May 8th. From here on, our Member Moderators will be moderating the forums, and I know they will do a superb job. In these tough economic times, company budgets need to cut costs and that is why I've been laid off. I will miss PC World greatly, as I first started here in 2000. I'll be pursuing online community work and I'm sure I'll pop in from time-to-time as a forum member to say hi. :)

I know there have been many changes in the past calendar year to our Community what with Kellie being laid off last Sept, then I took on moderating in a part-time capacity in conjunction with my research editor position, and now been laid off. But I know you all will make these forum threads full of support, knowledge and friendship. I wish you all the very best!! :) Feel free to keep in touch via PM.

Warmest Regards,
Kristina

I'm sorry I didn't get to know you, as I drop by only once in awhile. I hope the best for you, and I'm sure your talent will be noticed and acquired. Thank you for your part in making this one of the best forums on the internet.

I don't know you but still the same, sorry to hear you are being let go.

You are right, times are tough times and this is all to common.

I, as everyone here, hopes that this door closing will only bring you a better opportunity elsewhere.

Stay positive.

Hey Kristina, I for one hope you still remain as a forum member. The number of "Peppers" on this forum is precarious as it is. Good luck in the future. There is only one feeling that descibes this news, :( . Hopefully a new and even better door will open soon. coastie

Disappointing. I hope they didn't lay you off because of my recent cancellation in the magazine; however, I know you're not the only one to be laid off in the past 6 months.

Sorry to see that you'll be leaving the PCW staff but I hope that you will continue to koin us in the forums. Your input has been invalueable and your role as moderator has been as it should, present but not apparent. See you soon.

Krissy, you will be missed. It has been good working with you, and looking forward to seeing you on the site as a contributing member. After all, now you can post your opinion rather than the company line.

:(

One of my favorite quotes in difficult times of change is "Without breakdown and decay there can be no rejuvenation". When you think about it, it kind of gives you hope about the depression our economy is in.

I hope you stop back and let us know how things go.

I'm so sorry to hear the news, Kristina. We were just getting to know you better and now you're leaving... :( There are a lot of companies rearranging themselves, and sadly sometimes the best people take the brunt of the situation.

On the positive side, I know that with your wonderful editing skills, work ethics and sunny disposition, you'll be able to get a great job where you can make your mark in the world. As they say... when one door closes another one opens.

I know your life will take a positive turn and things will be back to normal for you real soon.

Take good care, my friend. :x You will be missed. :(

Adama

Any news on where you'll be going to next, Kristina? I know, you probably can't talk about it... but I just hope that the world opens up and a bunch of wonderful, new opportunities come your way.

I am sorry to just find out! I will miss you Kristina. I had no idea things were that tough at PCWorld. I wish you the best of luck in all your future endeavours, and just know you will find a better position suited for your talents. As one door closes, a new window of opportunity always opens. As a matter of fact, the silver lining has always rewarded me in better ways, each and every job I had. So moving on is the way to prosperity. Really! No joke!

Also a noticeable pattern in my experience, is every company I left went bankrupt within 1 year, or bought out by somebody that goes out of business within 1 year. My first job included, and last notable move was from Nortel Networks... Once I lose confidence in the company I work for, I'm gone. Not the other way around. People, that simple flip in perspective WORKS! The difference is either let it happen to you, or take control of your destiny, and let it happen to THEM.

Now leaving PCWorld I believe is a blessing in disguise for you and your career!

Look at it this way: One year from now, you will be laughing at all of this. The sad part is the friends and co-workers you leave behind...

The Universe can and will provide.

All the best to you Kristina, from your friend WinTard.
