Yes, I think this comes back to my original question because in Internet Option OUTLOOK EXPRESS is clicked in the box with Microsoft Word in the box just above it.

Is that a "yes, I have Outlook"?

Don't worry about the Internet Option stuff right now. We are not to that part yet. I just need to know if you Outlook installed on your computer.

OK, then see if this helps:

http://mail.google.c...en&answer=77689

It is instructions for how to setup Outlook 2007 to access your Gmail account. Let us know if you have questions or something does not make sense.

After you complete the setup, let us know and we can take the next step.

Smax, I have problems. When I go to OUTLOOK i keep getting a pop-up window that says I have to download a Microsoft progarm but it's a "frozen" window and won't let me click. I have to click CTRL-ALT-Delete. I log out log back in and it does the same thing over and over again. Now, my original question I said that sites like Craigslist gives me a pop-up a that requires me to correspond with them through OUTLOOK EXPRESS. What's the difference between OUTLOOIK and OUTLOOK EXPRESS? I have an OUTLOOK EXPRESS window and it seems to have configuration settings that would work, like IMAP, POP, etc. settings and even askes me for an e-mail address I would like to use. (I have one in there under jsw007 when I was trying to figure this problem out months ago).

Outlook Express would work...Outlook is just a little more feature rich program and if you had it and it was working, it is typically a "better" choice.

But, if it is not working, then Outlook Express will work.

Here are some instructions for setting up Outlook Express with Gmail:

Smax, O.K. I went carefully through all the steps. I have the my gmail account entered. Now, I have to find out if it is working. I'm going to go to Craigslist and respond to an ad and see if it works. I'll let you know how I did. Thanks again for all your time and effort.

NOW, we need to go back to the Internet Options stuff.

You need to make sure the email setting is set to Outlook Express. Once you do that, you should be able to hit the link in Craig's List to reply to postings.

Yep...assuming you got everything setup right in Outlook Express, you should be good to go. Go ahead and test it out. If it does not work, then let us know and we will see if we can track down the problem.

No, I responded to an ad and it said it failed. But, the e-mail screen looked different and had my Yahoo name in it. I'll tell you what I saw. When I tried to e-mail someone I clicked "SENT" i got a pop-up window that read "Login" and "please enter your user name and password for the following server." and below that it read, "Logon:" and under that it read, "Server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com." What I found interesting is that when I went to respond to the ad on Craigslist the pop-up window I recieved had my Yahoo e-mail instead of my gmail address that I thought I typed into the boxes when configuring Outlook Express. Remember I said a couple of months ago I enetered my yahoo address trying to get Outlook Express to work. My yahoo address is stil in there.

I am going away from my computer for while, so I won't be able to help right now...but we will see what we can do later today.

In the mean time, maybe someone else will come along to help.

Also, you might want to look at this document to learn how to put screenshots up on the forum:

{document:id=1144}

If you are able to put up screenshots, then that might help us troubleshoot.

OK, in Outlook Express...when you go to the Tools menu and select the Accounts... item, you should get a window called Internet Accounts. Click on the Mail tab. How many accounts are listed in on that tab in the window? Can you post a screenshot using the instructions that I provided?

If putting up a screenshot is too much, then we can likely work around that, but it would likely make things easier if you are able to do the screenshot.

Yeah, I just tried and I see I need to do the screenshot. Can you explain to me how to send it to you? or do you want me to try to explain to you what I am seeing. For example, when I clicked Express>Accounts, etc. I get a window that has 4 folder titles = "ALL", "Mail", "News"' "and "Directory Service" but there is alot of info in each of these folders.

What it said when I went into "Mail" was 1) My name, and 2) Pop.email acct. My Name was the default email so I went and clicked Pop.email as the default. it showed the correct gmail address. Did I do the right thing?

I believe that should solve it. Give it a try with Craig's List now.

Smax, I was not successful. I send the e-mail (my "sent" box reads that I sent it) but get a pop-up window asking me to Logon MY NAME "Please enter your user name and password for the following server". And, my User name is showing as the gmail account I want to use and I type in the correct password CLICK OK but get the same pop-up again over and over.

It did likely work. The problem is that you appear to have two email accounts "setup" in Outlook Express. At least, that is what is implied by this statement from your ealier post:

"What it said when I went into "Mail" was 1) My name, and 2) Pop.email acct. "

Basically, you solved the problem of Outlook Express selecting the right account when you click the link on the webpage...you did that by setting the "Pop.email" account as the "default" account. Thus, when you clicked on the link on the Craig's List page, it opened a new message window using the "Pop.email" account. You should have been able to type your message to the seller and then when you hit the "send" button, it appears to have successfully sent the message (if it had not, then you would have gotten both an error message...AND the message would still be in the Outbox rather than the Sent Items box).

The problem is with the second account. Everytime Outlook Express goes to check for new email, it will check BOTH accounts. And it appears that the other email account is not fully setup...i.e. the correct email user ID and password are not entered into the account settings for it. Thus, it asks for that information. And when you give it the Gmail account user ID and password, the reason it is not working is because it is an account set to check a YAHOO server (if I recall correctly). The way to solve that is to delete that account. Go back to the Accounts... item under the Tools menu and select the Mail tab in the windows that opens up. Once you are there, click on the item that says "My name" and then click on the Remove button. It might ask you to confirm...if so, click on the option to confirm that you want to delete it. This should leave ONLY the "Pop.email" account listed. Once that is the case, you should be good to go.
