Hi Delly, First you didn't tell us what OS you were running. That having been said, you need to go to the Task manager CTRLALTDEL and loook at your processes. If it is "I" as in Eye, then it is a bug, if it is "L" then it is a windows file. We will need to know this before we can go further. coastie

Delly, Lsass.exe is a security program. It sounds as though your login file is corrupted. Have you tried using a system restore point? If that doesn't work, your only option may be a reformat, and Windows reinstall.

Hey mcb, there is an isass.exe ( put the i in lower case to differentiate the difference between the two) that is a trojan. The only real way to tell is by looking at processes in the Task Manager. I agree that the only option appears to be a reformat and reinstall. coastie

Do you have a Windows CD? If so, have you tried doing a Windows repair install, booting to your Windows CD?

Coastie, if the login file is corrupted, the user won't be able to access Safe Mode either.

Yep. A repair wold be a possible option as well, if he has a Windows Installation Disk. I over looked that.
