When I point to Start and then Programs in Windows, I see alot of programs that I fail to see when I open Add/Remove programs. Where at these programs hidden and how do I get rid of them?

Normally it means that the program was once there, but you might of uninstalled it another way. So the computer will basically think its still installed.. yet unable to uninstall.
If it really bothers you, try ccleaner and go to tools add/remove and click delete it something won't uninstall.
Remember to google whatever it is you are uninstalling to make sure you don't need it - if you don't know what it is anyway (general advice I've gone on uninstalling sprees before and paid for it in the end.)

Hi, You can do it the slow way by using Windows Explorer and doing a search for each one. Once the search is complete, you can right click on each entry and then delete. Afterwards, you can follow up using CCleaner , www.CCleaner.com and clean out what residue may be left. coastie

The Add/Remove function generally uses the install/uninstall that the program makers includes/uses. Some of those installers/uninstallers don't always completely remove all traces of a program. Sometimes they may leave an entry in the Start menu or even leave some files behind. To get rid of those remnants, you can use the methods that others have described.
The other possibility is that they way the program installs, it does not "notify" the Add/Remove function and thus does not get displayed. This should be rare, but it could happen.
