I am a outside sales person starting a new job in June. My new job has a video presentation and I am not looking forward to carrying my laptop. ( I will be making from 10 to 15 stops a day) I am considering gettting a Mini PC or Netbook. This way I can keep my work and personal separate. I require some graphics (the video mentioned) & some office applications (letters, contact information etc) Is this the way to go or should I stick with my big laptop? Also if these Netbooks do not have a CD Rom, how do you install software? Any suggestions are welsomed!

I have an Acer netbook and my daughter has an HP netbook, both are 9 inch display. Based on this small sample I would expect you and customers to be unhappy with any presentations >>> unless you also had access to a projector, as the displays are TINY to read anything requiring concentration. Our netbooks do have a standard VGA style video out connector so a projector is a viable option.

Regards installing software, within the units storage or hard-disk are all necessary files to reinstall the basic OS. Actual CD's are usually not supplied unless you contact the mfg technical support and request, you would then need a stand-alone CD-DVD player with USB interconnect >>> about $80 or so. Anyway, unless you only ever install software from downloads or a network connection, you will need this disk reader to access your other CD's.

I noticed that when netbooks cam to the market pretty much all of them came with Linux installed however I do notice that more and more are coming with Windows.

I have not yet got one but keeping my eyes open for a bargain for the wife.
