Have an Acer 1635 netbook computer with a default display resolution of 1024 x 600 under Win-Xp. I can also select this to 800 x 600 but when I do nothing actually changes, plus, next time the unit is turned on then it is back to 1024 x 600. Frustrating, This is small but barely usable resolution for browsing and mail but totally useless for any serious work. I contact Acer tech support about changing this and the response is that it can't be done >>> Intel provide the only graphics driver. So. Anyone know of any other way to change this? Something stable like 640 x 400 or so would provide large enough text that, if needed on-the-road, a person could actually prepare modest documents.
SUGGESTIONS and constructive COMMENTS >>> Please!

Some laptops can only run at one resolution. Thus, you might be stuck.
If you cannot change the resolution, then you could look at options to chance font size. For example, one thing to try is to right-click on the Desktop and select Properties from the resulting popup menu. Then in the resulting window, select the Appearance tab. In the bottom of the window, there should now be a pull down menu for Font Size. Try selecting either Large Fonts or Very Large Fonts from the menu and then hit Apply. This will change the size of the font for the desktop icons, for text along the top of open windows, etc.
You can do something similar for the size of text on webpages within Internet Explorer (it will not work for all pages...depends on how the pages are coded).
And there are other things you can do for things like Word or other programs.
