CD/DVD Burner software advice - I need a basic utility

Hi everyone. Can anyone recommend a low cost or free CD/DVD burner software? I need a reliable no-frills utility because I only burn 10 CD's a year and maybe 5 DVD's. I saw Roxio Basic Easy Media Creater 9 on eBay for $10. This looks like a good deal but I would apprecate input from my fellow PC World forum members.
Thanks,
Greg

Both XP and Vista have the built in ability to burn CD's. The features in Vista are more robust.
Are you looking to create data CD's, music CD's or what?
What OS are you using?

I am using XP Pro. I just remembered that the software disk that came with my ASUS motherboard has a burner program called "Ulead". I'm going to install it and let you know how it is.

XP Pro will burn data discs without any third party software (the original version might not have...don't recall for sure, but SP2 certainly does). It is not as flexible as some third party utilities, but it can be done.

You can use the built-in Windohs software as suggested or look into free applications.

Hey Sam !!
I used to burn Cds , DVDs and Double layer DVDs with "RecordNow 10" from Roxio as this one works on Vista (32 and 64bit)
and now Windows 7 (32 and 64bit) but, is a pricey program. It will do everything the advertisement says it does and does it
very well. http://www.roxio.com...r/overview.html .
I know have another burning program called "BurnAware" I bought the license but , the Free version will do practically everything
the Paid For program does. It is just as good as RecordNow 10 but, is absolutely Free. The licensed version adds a few more options
but, in your case, you won't miss them.
http://www.burnaware...aware_free.html .
A third option , which is just as good as the other two and is also Free is , " CDBurnerXP" . Don't let the name fool you. It is as much for
XP as it is for Vista and Windows 7 in either 32 or 64bit . The interface or GUI is a little more complex than the other two but,
will satisfy anyone willing to learn the ins and outs of this program.

All three burners will make CDs and DVDs playable in your home audio or video products as well as play in your car's CD player.
To tell you the truth, I really liked the RecordNow 10 BUT, as I said , it is a pricey piece of software.
If you have any questions, post and ask.
FLASHORN.

I primarily get my music from Rhapsody and as such, use RealPlayer to burn it. I have XP MCE installed on the eMachines and Vista Home Premium on this Gateway, but prefer to use a third party app over the windows stuff. There are a number of things that can be used effectively ( some more friendly than others).
