Ok something new I have never seen before. When boot I get the Invalid system disk,
replace something or other and hit any key. so I hit any key and then I
get to my two choices of I believe "Microsoft home xp", or something on
that line. I choose the first one and boom I get to the desk top. I hope someone is able to shed some light on
this subject for me lol,
The pc gets up and running fine after that. Windows XP home SP3

Hmmmm. This is the message that would come up in the case of a disc being inserted. You're saying that you're getting through to the desktop after going through the menu, so that's good (you're not locked out).
Do you have recovery discs? I'd suggest trying a recovery to see if this alleviates the problem.
Cheers,

Issue is solved. I changed the way the pc boots and from what device(s). I have it set to boot from the Hd with the OS then 2nd is a cd/dvd drive. All other are disabled. Yes I do still have a cd in the drive but I now do not get the invalid system disk.
Ron no need to rush into a recovery lol........
