Creating and building a website with FileMaker can be very inexpensive and easy.
FileMaker offers an Instant Web Publishing feature that instantly creates a website for you without any knowledge of PHP or XML.
You can host with a company such as http://www.FMGateway.com for about $30 a month.
You can also use PHP to create websites that can be viewed on desktop browsers as well as Smartphones using either the API for PHP or FX.php.
FX.php and the API for PHP are two classes of PHP written to communicate with FileMaker Pro.
You simply build a FileMaker database, and then create PHP pages that communicate with the database. The PHP pages can be hosted at any hosting company - while your FileMaker database would need to be hosted with a FileMaker hosting provider.
There are also tools to quickly build custom web publishing sites such as the FileMaker Site Assistant and FMStudio.
FileMaker also cross platform - working with both Mac and PC - this is very important to some users.
