:unsure: :( :cry: I have a fairly new, less than 1 year old, HP Pavilion zd 8000 laptop computer. I recently had to replace the lcd screen, $800 :cry: , and I read the article on HP support site about the ac power adapter problem with the 135 watt adapter that comes with the laptop does not charge the battery. Well I received a brand new 180 watt ac power adapter and with my new battery I also purchased, it still does not charge!!!! :evil: Does any one know what is the problem? :?: There are 3 fans on the bottom of the HP zd8000 and th one in the middle, which I'm assuming is for the battery, does not work. Is there a diagnostic program I can run or something to check for this? Thanks, I'm ready to throw this laptop!!! :twisted: {size:18px}

there's no fan for the battery in a laptop, but try using the old adapter.
anything wrong with the old battery? Or can you use it?The old battery will not charge, so I bought a new one and it does not charge. HP posted an article about the laptop getting warm and the batter not charging so thier solution was a 180watt ac adapter verses the 135watt one they sold the laptop with. Neither battery will charge with the new or old ac adapter... I just don't know.

I'm out of suggestions. I guess you'll have to brave tech support.

I have worked on many laptops with charging problems (all Dell ) and the problem with the lack of charge is the motherboard. There may be something damaged or loose on the motherboard. See how much it would cost to replace that, or even have HP take a look at it. I use an HP Pavilion zv6201cl computer which I got in December and have'nt had a problem yet, but I ordered the 12 cell battery to use as the primary, while the included 8 cell as the spare. I hope your problem becomes apparent and is fixed quickly and easily.
