Hi guys,I am in troubles and hope I could find a good advise about internet security. I decided to chat for the first time this summer and found myself in a veryUGLY situation. I have had on my computer spybots, trojans, hijackers etc. etc. for a period of three month perhaps more.To protect my pc, I only had Norton and a spysub but it obviously didnt help to protect anything. I am clueless about pcs and internet chatting and I didnt know chat rooms are hackers heaven. Soon, two or three of the hackers were in control of my pc. To solve the problem,[i] I tried a destructive recovery several time. But, I didnt seem to help. +I kept going back to chat room because 1 ) they actually talked about how dummie I was and 2) they wrote what they were doing on my pc. They stole images from my pc, music and doc files, passwords, bank information etc and I everytime I used the webcam they were watching. Me going back to the chat made them mad and they started openly exchanging my msn for pictures of naked girls. Thats not all, every time I went to ANY chat room (yahoo, ICQ, latin chat) they were there wating for me. Also, they were spreading rumors about me 1) I was "super hot" and 2) that I was always "naked on cam". As a result, more and more hackers invaded my privacy. On monday, I took my computer to a repair shop and was told that my hard drive is infected. But, the "Computer guy" told me he doesnt know much about internet security :( and suggested this forum. Since then, I got stopzilla and I also asked my internet provider to change my username and password. But, I am afraid this is not going to be enough. What else can I do to protect myself? you guys have any advise? What could I do in this situation? Can those people continue to bother me? what can I do to stop them?I hope you could help me,Dee

Personally, I would want to make sure that I still didn't have something on my computer. There are many forums on the internet that have trained experts that will walk you through malware removal. Unfortunately, this is not a malware removal forum. Try one of the following websites for detailed instructions on how to remove and prevent this from occuring again. At the end of their preliminary steps that they recommend that you take, there are steps to post a hijackthis log. The log is used as a guide for them to see what is happening on your computer.Try one of the following forums.http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic34773.htmlorhttp://www.geekstogo.com/forum/YouMustReadThisBeforePostingAHijackthisLog-t2852.htmlorhttp://forums.spywareinfo.com/index.php?showtopic=79038All of the forums above have trained experts in malware removal. Most of the forums are quite busy and it may take a few days before you will be able to get your first replyGood-luck.

Personally, I only need four kinds of security software to keep my Windows PC clean: firewall, antivirus, antispyware, and a HIPs (been using System Safety Monitor, but have also had Antihook, GhostSecurity, and ProcessGuard), and I haven't had any problems with any type of malware (as my HIPs has stopped all viruses from executing in the first place). But to remove the malware, get Hijackthis (have someone dissect what you need and what is malware), do online scans (such as Panda, Kaspersky, and Trendmicro), and get a firewall (I suggest ZoneAlarm, and if you're willing to pay for a firewall, ZoneAlarm Pro gives you the most bang for your buck) if you don't have one already.

If they can get in and out, regardless of what security software you have, back up what you need to cds or dvds and re-install windows. After you've done that, change all passwords and don't go back to those specific chat rooms. It's also a good idea to get rid of your current e-mail addys. It sounds like script kiddies went to town on you, not hackers. Most "hackers" i know stick to forums, or private irc rooms, where n00bs aren't allowed.
