Hi,

If I understand what is going on, you bought the pc without a hdd, bought a new 80gb hdd and are currently trying to format it?

What are you formating it with?

Do you have an operating system disc in the tray and bios set to boot from cd?

The os disk should handle what you need as you go through the process of installing the os.

Hopefully someone with more experiance will respond to your problem.
Beyound having replaced your laptop hdd with a compatible one, jumper set in the correct postion, if a jumper is required for this single hdd.

The system should boot into bios and ask to press any key to boot from cd and from there its follow the choices as it runs set up.

Sorry I don't have more to offer.

Have you contacted the seller about this?

If its a company hopefully it had at least a warrenty period.

Perhaps a google search with your enquiry may bring an answer if no one else replies?

I believe that error is related to a file that wasn't being completely read through the CD. For some reason THAT FILE couldn't be loaded during setup.

Can you try to boot up another way? For example, try downloading and burning a linux cd and then try to run that. It may be your hardware or something. If this doesn't work then I am stumped.

Just to make sure that I understand, when you say you "start loading..." are you talking about booting off the Windows install CD to install Windows on the new hard drive?

Your OS must have been screwed out. Reinstalling your Operating System might fix it.

Okay, this morning I went in the bios setup and turned everything off wireless, etc, now my windows is loading with no messages. I took the wirless card out and disabled everything I could. I read this on one of the sites that was sent to me. Now I have to figure out what i stopped that made it work?
