2) That wasn't the entire post, the first one in a public thread...?
3) That wasn't even an article (which generally are copyrighted), but a public discussion forums?
????
Should I drop out of this community, we'll all know who personally had it in against WinTard, and wielded the ban button...
And perhaps that would make PCWorld a better community in your mind?
I was told there is an automatic profanity editor that will automatically filter 'reserved' words? Thus anything not automatically censored was okay? But that it was against Community Standards, to replace or obfuscate such reserved words, with !@#$% in an attempt to by pass the automated profanity filter?
Which is it?

Yes. The profanity filter (when working) will prevent you from posting anything that it objects to...to my knowledge it will not filter anything out...you still have to do that yourself when it won't let you post. Now, I am suprised it let that through...it should not have...it may not be working for some reason. Still, you are responsible for what YOU put in YOUR posts (you are not responsible for what other websites might have if you link to them).

It was an entire post from a thread on another site...I checked it with the link you provided.

Anything posted on a website is copyrighted. Your posts on this site are copyrighted by you...and when you agreed to the Terms of Use of the site, you agreed to allow PCWorld the right to use and reprint your posts...but it is still copyrighted to you. I have ZERO right to copy your entire post and post it on another site without your permission (yes, Fair Use exceptions do give me some rights).
The end result is the rule is the rule. There is no copy and pasting of more than a couple of sentances or paragraphs from other sites/sources...something which you have been warned about several times.

I merely enforce the rules as I am told to do. I have nothing personally against you, although I might disagree with you on some issues, but that has nothing to do with my moderation role.
Oh, and for the record, moderators have ZERO ability to ban any member. That is a decision purely made by PCWorld staff. We merely point out those that violate the rules and the PCWorld staff then decides who gets banned or not. Thus, I have no ban button to use on you.

Nope...you provide a valuable contribution as long as you stay within the rules.

Yes, there is a profanity filter...but it does not remove profanity...it merely will not let you post if there is profanity in your post that is on its list...and then you must remove it yourself before you can post. As I said above, I am suprised it let you post...I suspect it is not working properly.
And "hiding" the profanity with odd characters is not permitted either (take a look at item #2 in the Community Standards). When it is detected, it will be removed and a warning posted.
I am sure that you will claim that all profanity is not removed...and this is true. We have a list of acceptable words/use that we are given and are to follow when dealing with profanity. As a result, some "minor" stuff is permitted. I will admit that I find this to be problematic because you as a user are not given clear guidelines as to what is permitted and what is not permitted. But, then that is why people will rarely get tossed for profanity, I suspect.

Please do not post the entire text from an article/post/other content from another site, just use a excerpt and a link.
The profanity filter on this software does not always catch everything it should, we are aware of this problem.
Thank you,

I would have left this alone, had it not started over I don't know what...
But credit where credit is due, I didn't want any of this. I was forced into it thanks to smax013...
So unknowingly, I continued to post in that very thread...
Perhaps since that last post of mine got teleported elsewhere, we should continue there? http://forums.pcworld.com/thread/57671
Thank you.

Here is a tip for you. If I have a long post I copy it to note pad before I hit the post button, that way if the post doesnt go thru all is not lost.

I will noted that the software does have a "recovery" function that will sometimes recovery "lost" posts (key word is "sometimes").

I kind of feel sorry for you that, the way you have been explaining it, it sounds like someone is editing your posts to go against the profanity filter and other things, essentially trying to ban you. I think that really is cheating on the part of whoever is doing that. Maybe it isn't the Moderators. Maybe it's really a botnet or virus that has infected the forum software! On one side, I believe the Moderators are too nice to be trying to edit your posts to cause your ban. On the other, I believe that there probably is a bug in the software that is controlling your posts. It really doesn't play well with me. Remember the time when you commented "You are a very smart teenager, dude"? Yes, I've been back for a very long time. I seriously don't feel that you should go.

This was caused by a bug in our old forum software and is not an issue anymore.
Thanks,
