I have Road Runner Lite(or Light not sure how they spell it). It is a cheaper version of RR and is cable. The only problem I have with it is the slower load times but if it takes a while I usually start playing a game!

In my area, we pay $12.99 per month for our DSL. That is pretty cheap.

AT&T Yahoo! DSL, right? isn't $12.99 only a 1-year introductory rate?not only that, our landline service isn't SBC - it's a small regional carrier called Sage, and it's cheaper than SBC, plus we get 100 minutes of free long distance with them.so ya, it's not TOO much more expensive, and i'd pay for it if i could, but i've had a lot of expenses lately, and i'm trying to cut costs while i save money for the rest of my college.

Actually I think it is, but...One day the DSL people called us and said they were going to raise the price dramatically for our service. So we said that if it was going to be that high, then we should just quit. Not wanting to lose a prescious customer, the DSL people said they would give it to us for $12.99 per month. And we have the Elite DSL (fastest)

Cable, but It's down constantly. I'm thinking of switching to DSL. It's just as fast and you don't have to deal with the hastle.

I have seen and worked on just about every type of connection available. For me and my home I picked cable. I love the speed and ease of installation. I started when TCI, now defunct, was using Excite@Home until @Home went out of business, then migrated to ATTBI and now Comcast. I get speeds up to 8MB and the ease of setting up a router and wireless connections make it a no brainer.

I have a NETGEAR wireless network, and that loses connection to the router all the time too...but I've had cable Internet for 5 years I think, and it's always been down all the time. Always at the worst possilbe time and without warning too... :-(

I've not experienced any outages besides the problem of dumb drivers taking out terminal boxes, that took them 4 days to repair. Pretty dependable so far, and as far as WIFI, hooked up a Belkin and have only had one glitch caused by a neighbor with one of those range boosters interfering. Repositioned the antenna a bit and it went away. Only had a couple other outside users get into the router, but a quick client check and entered their MAC address into the blocking file, no more trouble. I have three laptops and one desk top on WIFI and two wired. Seems a snap. Set up a WIFI for my son, his girlfriend and roommate withLinksys and was easy, less than an hour start to finish, two WIFI and one wired. What's not to like, Dsl is too slow when all the users try to get on and stream audio or video all at once. Lights flashed on the router so fast I thought it would melt.

DSL may be slow in your area, but it's not because of the technology itself. As far as potential speeds for DSL and cable, cable is only marginally faster (as far as i know).
