Well, 6/8 is finally here. All of the silly rumors will be put to rest... for now. I'll be able to decide on whether to buy a Kindle. I'll be able to see if any 'new' Mactastic thing happens before I slap down the bread for an iMac.
How much hype can anyone stand? I sort of tuned out all of the rampant, baseless speculation myself. Of course, I wonder what NEW rampant, baseless, wacky speculation will be spawned by the crumbs of information tossed out today and this week, too.
Needless to say, I didn't get a golden ticket to see what the oompa loompas made under the candy rainbow first hand. I'll just read up on it after the fact.

Well, I'm reading over the keynote notes from MacWorld...
http://www.macworld....06/keynote.html
Seems I was right to wait. The whole MacBook line got improved, and in some cases a lot cheaper. $700 off the air. The Apple site hasn't refreshed to the newly released information, even though the new gizmos are supposed to be shipping.
The Snow Leopard upgrade will be $29 for Leopard users.
iPhone 3.0 adds tethering, so I wouldn't have to use my evil developer tweaks to run a proxy on it to share its connection.

The dropping of the ExpressCard slot on the 15" MacBook Pro for a SD card slot is dumb...you can certainly get an ExpressCard that can handle CD cards if you want. So, they go with something less flexible.
Putting a Firewire 800 port on the MacBook...all I can say is...DUH! I guess they learn from their stupidity of dropping Firewire from the MacBook.
Not sure if I like the built-in batteries on all of the laptops or not...even if they are the longer lasting, "more advanced" batteries.
I did not see anything about matte screens being added back for the 15" MacBook Pro...maybe they have not learned that lesson yet.
Glad to see they dropped the prices...

Good price. Was not sure I was going to upgrade...this makes it more likely.

Yeah...but it is not clear if AT&T will support it (from the notes)...thus, it is not clear if we get it or not in the US.
Much of the other iPhone stuff is nice. I will certainly pay the $10 to upgrade my iPod Touch to "play" with it. And it makes it much more likely that I will seriously consider an iPhone when I am ready to get a new phone (it woult still be nice if they did a model with a REAL keyboard...still had the onscreen one).
