I'm new to digital cameras, but have a Canon SureShot A540, which came with software that plays the photo files in various sequences to create a slide show -- with timing and wipe options etc. How can I record the slide show to a CD or DVD (I have burners for both in my computers), so that family can watch my vacation photo slide show on their TV set, using their DVD player? I can't find a way to do this in the Canon software, or in the NERO burning software.

Windows Movie Maker should be able to do what you want. Export the video file as either MPEG1 or MPEG2 for VCD and DVD formats respectively. Use the NERO software to burn the videos.

Yeokm1 - thanks! Have never used the Windows Movie Maker and it does a lot of cool things. But I can't find any way to export (or save) my movie to the MPEG1 or MPEG2 formats you mentioned. Are these options buried someplace? Sure will appreciate your response ...

Windows Movie Maker(WMM) can only export as a Windows Media Video(WMV) file. Let WMM export the file the file as a WMV file. After that download TMPGEnc from http://www.tmpgenc.net/ . This software will be able to convert your WMV video file into a VCD compatible MPEG-1 format. Use NERO to burn this MPEG-1 file.

Yeokm1 - Thanks again! I was able to use TMPGEnc to successfully create a MPEG-2 format file from the Windows Movie Maker file (WMV) and put it on a DVD, using NERO software, that played on my Panasonic DVD player and TV set. Cool! Thanks!

Yeokm1 -I jumped the gun yesterday and what I rally created with TMPGEnc and NERO was a Super Video CD with a rsolution of only 480 x 480. Yes it plays on my desktop DVD player and TV, but I was hoping for something with much higher resolution. NERO claims it needs .bup .vob and .ifo files, which TMPGEnc doesn't produce (although it deos well with .mpg and .m2v+.wav file output formats. Guess I need to continue looking for something that will actually take my .wmv or .avi slide shows from Windows Movie Maker and convert them for use on a video DVD.

Did you select DVD format when converting the files with TMPGEnc? Nero should be able to burn a DVD with 704x576 resolution. You need to go to "Make your own DVD-Video" tool to let Nero accept the single video file. Nero will then create the other necessary files automatically. By the way, what version of Nero are using?

Using NERO Express 6.6.1.4 (Gateway OEM) with DVD Video Plug-In that I purchased separately. I'm thinking I might be needing NERO PhotoShow or Roxio MyDVD8 or similar?

Did you select the DVD burning option in NERO? Super Video VCD is the wrong option to choose. If you choose SVCD, Nero will downscale it to 480x480. By the way, I will stop replying to your topic as I am busy with my studies. If you need additional urgent help, sent me a private message to let me know.

I've been using PhotoVidShow and have to admit i'm very impressed by how easy it is to use. Does all the above + more with one simple program, Pretty cheap too. I've also used it to import videos and slideshows created with other programs like adobe elements. Try it free at their website [url]http://www.photovidshow.com_ Does DVD/SVCD and VCD. VCD is a bit of a waste of time though as the resolution is a bit too low for photos, ok for videos though.Pipin
