So sure, nice additions, but not a major upgrade; I'll evaluate things in 6 months or whenever the next edition comes out. (hopefully that one'll do flash.)

i hate when people voice up and attempt to market things they've never tried themselves.

Nokia has had excellent video recording already for years with Carl Zeiss optics. 3-megapixel camera is poor, Nokia has 8MP.
Voice control has been in Nokia for years also.
Nokia MAPS is all you need for navigating.
"Modem" connection is already ancient technology and is available with good and solid performance with Nokia.
SportsTracker from Nokia is better.

Do you really think it was any different when Blackberry released their latest phone with Verizon? I don't know of a single carrier that will give you a subsidized price on a new phone if they already subsidized another phone for you in the last 18-24 months. This is no different. They will only subsidize the price every 18-24 months. If you haven't waited that long then you can pay full price. Geez, you guys would make poor businesspeople.

As for the 10 cool things about the iPhone 3G S...
Ok it's faster. I'd still rather have the speed on a new iPod touch.
More Memory, I mean Storage. That's great for iPod users. Personally the storage seems in line with micro flash cards and even last year many of us could have added a 16GB micro flash card to our phones and whola! Next.
Video recording. My instinct has had video recording since the 1st generation. Anybody else with video? thought so.
Improved Camera. everyone with at least 3-megapixels raise your hand. Now keep them up until tomorrow when a new phone comes out with a camera thats 3-megapixels or better. And the next day, and the next day. Get the idea. Next.
You can talk to it. Not sure about anyone else but the 1st gen Instinct had this feature from the start. Simply push the speach to action button on the side and talk. Call so & so, Text so & so, run program, etc.
Built-in compass. wow. really a compass. Now if only Capt. Jack Sparrow would come and show me how to use it. Thanks Apple. Although I find it much easier to use the turn by turn gps navagation on my phone. Again, the Instinct has had this feature since day one and many sprint phones have gps navagation. The Live Search on the instinct is my number one favorite thing. no matter where I am I can simply push the action button and say "Starbucks" and a list of every starbucks in the are comes up. I can then call one map the location or get turn by turn directions to the place. When I travel this is wonderful.
Internet tethering. Pretty sure the blackberry can do this and unless you hack or crack this is not going to do you much good here in the US.
Accessibility features. Again a feature that many other phones have. Hearing aid compatable, etc.
Nike+iPod. Got nothing for this one. Although it doesn't do much good if you don't own a pair of Nikes.
New Headphones. Ok this is great. I like headphones. I'm also happy that everyone learned the headphone jack should be standard size and NOT recessed. Thanks Apple.
Still no removable battery tho huh? I'm kinda partial to the fact that I can swap my dead battery for a fresh charged one in a pinch. Not to harp again but the Instinct comes with 2 batteries and the ability to charge one while using the other.
Like I said, there is much too love about the iPhone but not much that can't be gotten by just buying an iPod touch. That's just my opinion I could be wrong.

Any day now you will able to use mp3s as a ringtone. Then you will be allowed to add your own software, change the battery for a chepaer generic. They will add a HW keyboard... and call it the iTouch Pro II.
BTW any iphone owners out there want to swap a cow for some magic beans

And nobody knows...but Apple and Apple does not talk about that until they are ready to introduce the upgrades...Apple is notorious tight lipped about future products most of the time. Anything that you hear prior to the official release is usually just rampant speculation...and maybe, just maybe someone who has access to some "leaked" information.
And that is why there is no press about an upgraded iPod Touch. There likely will not be any upgrades to the Touch until the Fall...if there are any upgrades (I would guess that maybe they will have a 64 GB version). The exception is that you can install the iPhone 3.0 software for the Touch later today...for $10.

You want my two cents? How about either the MyTouch 3G or the T-mobile G1? Open source is what I want on my phone when I get one, thank you.
