IE 8 adds msn, msn auto, msnbc, links to my favorites. How can I delete them and keep them deleted? The links return after a shut down and startup. I can appreciate that they want their web sites prominent, but after they stick all their web sites on, there is little room for my favorites. How can I keep them off the favorites link? Thank you!

Are you talking about the Favorites menu or the Favorites/Links toolbar? Or both?

I have no such obnoxious behavior from IE8 on my computer. Have you tried right-clicking on the links you do not want and "deleting?"

Yes, I have deleted from (organize your favorites) and right-clicking directly on the link and deleting. It all stays deleted until I restart my computer, then all the msn group is back crowding out my own favorite links. (very annoying)

Sounds like a toolbar or other addon is responsible; look at this thread: http://social.answer...d-9ebcbc584fe7.

Best of luck.

In both the favorites and the links that I add on to the favorites bar (the gold star with the green arrow). This thread looks promisingHi,
perhaps you've downloaded and installed the custom MSN release of IE8:
ie8.msn.com/microsoft/internet-explorer-8/en-us/ie8.aspx
Please remove IE8:
"How do I uninstall or remove Internet Explorer 8?"
When you remove Internet Explorer 8, your earlier version of Internet Explorer is restored with your customizations (such as add-ins, Favorites, and your home page).
Then please read: "HOW TO solve IE8 installation problems":
I advise to install the IE8 version "non MSN customized".

Yes, question answered - problem solved. Deleting IE 8 and reinstalling a version of IE 8 that is (non msn) seems to have worked. I've gone several days with no msn favorites crowding out my own favorites on links or the drop down. Thanks very much for the information!

Terrific! Glad that you got your browser straightened out!

Many people have found that they like the Firefox web browser better than Internet Explorer. If you'd like to give it a try, look here: http://www.mozilla.c.../personal.html. It will leave IE8 installed so that you will have two browsers and can compare them at your leisure.

Best of luck!
