WALLET! I'd have to go wait in line at the DMV, get my ATM and one of my credit cards replaced, lose whatever paper cash I had, etc.

My cell phone is a literally disposable Tracfone. I paid $20 for it, and it has all of $20 in minutes on it, and that'll last a few more months.

I'm holding off to see whether something newer/better comes out before I ever commit to another two year service contract. All I care about on the cellular front is data, and with VHF based 4G looming, I don't want to lock myself into the 'old' stuff unless it comes super-cheap and with NO limits. I dumped my Sprint EVDO for ONE reason: they 'added' bandwidth limits.

That's too easy. I don't carry nor have a need for a cell phone. Wallet is the only answer for me and it wouldn't present much of a loss. A driver license, ATM card and picture of my wife. Yes it would be an inconvience if lost but not relly that mush. I don't have any credit cards and in most cases I carry one of those clip on ID cards for visits to my clients. Back in the early 80's I developed some nasty sores from carrying what was three inches of junk in my left rear pocket. Still today, when driving, I take out the wallet and place it in the center console. Much more comfortable even if it's just a half inch now.

My cell phone is a cell phone. Nothing fancy. I think it has one non-personal picture on it, but it does have a lot of phone numbers. I actually thought of this last week when I couldn't find it for several days. It was in a recess on the dash of my truck. Black case in a recess of a black dash makes a quick glance unproductive. I wound up calling the cell phone from my cordless phone with the doors of both vehicles open. Inconvenienced, yes, devastated - no way. Anyone devastated by the loss of a cell phone should seriously look into backups and what they have on it that they don't need on it.

So, my vote is the wallet. I do have several credit cards, as well as medical insurance cards and drivers license. The cash is the least of my worries as I don't usually carry very much.

I have never "Lost" my wallet, but I have misplaced it for a long enough period of time for me to start gathering the steps to get everything I would need to take care of that. Enough to make me spend 3 hours cleaning the apartment until I found it.
My cell phone I did lose at a baseball game. It was the free one you get when you sign a contract extension so no biggey. I did lose some phone #s that I had backed up on my PC, so again, no biggey. An hour after I lost it, and knew I wasn't getting it back I logged on to the phone company website and turned it off. Then I drove to the ballpark and found the shattered remnants in the parking lot. The next day I had to go but a new, much better phone. Can't do that with a license or credit card.

I just lost my mobile recently and was pretty confident that my data (photos, docs, #s, notes, ebooks, etc.) was safe since the phone is locked with 2 layers of passwords. Until that is, until i realized that a lot of the data was located in the SD card and not in the phones onboard memory -- which could be easily accessed using a card reader and a PC. :-(
