Hi. I need to change my old e-mail address for e-mail notification to threads that I've subscribed so I can keep up with the discussions.

My question is, why am I unable to change my e-mail address in my user profile for the forum?

You cannot change the email address in the forum part...you must do it in your "master" PCWorld account settings. There should be a "My Account" link in the upper right hand corner of the PCWorld webpage when you are logged in. Click on it and it should take you to where you can update your account settings, including your email address. But, keep in mind that this will change the "login ID" as well (i.e. the email address that you use to log into PCWorld).

Okay, but it is as my e-mail address in the forum user profile is not part of my PCWorld account information. Any changes made to changing my e-mail address in my PCWorld account will not update my e-mail address in the forum part of PCWorld.

I would not make any changes at all right now lest you get locked out as others have in the past. I will bring this up with the technical side of the forum to see if anything can be done. But the log on and the notification address have to be the same. The only other alternative is to find an e-mail address that forwards e-mails to another address. I have one with an alumni group, but rarely use it.

Actually that is not true, when you change your PCWorld account it will update your forum account, they are one and the same.

Thanks,

Well, it is true for me incase of my e-mail address tha cannot be changed in the forum for notification purposes.
If the e-mail address for notifications and for my log-in is the same as it should be, then maybe there must be some kind of bug in my account. But I wouldn't forward my old e-mail address to my e-mail address that I currently use frequently, as I get lots of spam coming through my junk mail folder and no spam-related e-mails through my inbox... So, I'm trying to get rid of my old e-mail address. My new e-mail address has been spam-free.

Update: Okay, I went into my account settings in PCWorld.com, change my new e-mail address to my old e-mail address, confirm my verification, went into my account information to change my old e-mail address to my new e-mail address, confirm my verification from my e-mail account, but nothing is changed in my forum user profile.

Ok, can you please PM me with both your old and your new email address so I can see what is happening?

Thank you,

I have much the same problem. If I change the email address, I get the email asking me to verify. I do verify, and the email address claims it is changed. My log in is certainly changed. But the emails send out to notify me of forum replies just go to the original email account anyway. I've changed it back and forth many times trying to get it to actually stick and it never does.

The account that gets the notification is the original account I signed up with. It's never actually changed the notification to the changed email address.

Can you help me with this as well?

Have you tried changing it recently?

I had the same problem and it got fixed...I just do not know if it was just mine that got fixed or if they fixed the "global" problem.

Please try it again and let me know if it works this time. If not, then I will follow-up on the problem with staff.

I'll try it right now.

Thanks!

Just let me know how it turns out. This post should get you an "email notification"...hopefully it will go to the correct email address. Let me know if it does not.

Still goes to the old email address, not the one used to log into PCWorld.

I changed it to the old email address where it goes anyway, then changed it again to where it should go. My account log in is proper, which is odd. It knows to allow me to log in with the correct email address. What's on my account now as an email address is correct. The email just doesn't go to that login email.

I will add it to the list. Thanks for checking it out. I will let you know if I get anymore information.

I understand. As I said, the same thing happened to me when I changed email addresses. It got fixed when I reported it. I had assumed it was a global fix, but it appears they just fixed it for my particular case.

It is "in the system" now. Please be patient as it might take a little bit of time for them to either get to it or find the problem.

I should note that the original post in this thread was still while we were under the old forum software. I believe it was fixed so that it was working back then. It appears that the shift to the new forum software might have broken it again.

I can wait forever. I'm extremely grateful to even get a reply truth be told.
