1st - In Contacts, there is a field for "nickname" But that's really useless, it shows up in small letters benath the name. I want an option for my contacts to be organized and display nicknames instead of the more formal, First and last name. Or even to select the first or last name only as the display name.
2nd - I really like how now you individual calls show duration time, i don't see a way to delete individual calls. As i see on my cheap LGVU. As a smart phone, it should be smarter than the run of the mill copy cats.

One thing that I would like to have is the ability to delete only selected items from recents, not the all or nothing that is there now. There are times where I would like to have a phone number for awhile but not necessarily permanent. I hate adding them to contacts and then removing them.
Besides the folder idea, I would like a mockup of the iPhone so that I could rearrange the icons more easily than on the device itself.

Because of an apparent problem in the iPhone 3G's pairing algorythm, the phone will not automatically re-pair with various models of Garmin GPS units. You must manually place the phone in discovery mode before it will re-connect with various Garmin GPS units to which it has been paired. This should be automatic.

I also find this annoying, especially with the google app. There is a hidden feature in this app to open sites within the application, here is a link describing how to find this extra feature: www.intomobile.com/2009/01/02/easter-egg-within-google-mobile-app-offers-up-a-useful-feature.html
It took me a few tries but I finally got it to work.

I would love to see all of the following in an update...
1. Allow me to adjust length of time my phone vibrates.
I miss so many messages/calls because the vibrate function isn't long enough. The vibrate function on the iphone is pretty weak, but if it vibrated longer then that would be fantastic. The multiple alerts doesn't cut it for me, still miss messages.
2. Allow custom text message alerts.
Ring tones can be changed to a custom tone, but text messages and emails for that matter still lack this functionality. I would love to set the text message tone to something different than the default tones. Many of my friends have iPhones now and to hear the same tone on all phones is kind of annoying!

I want two things for iPhone OS 4.0. First and foremost - please, please, PLEASE, allow the iPhone to use Adobe Flash Player! There are so many Web sites out there that rely solely upon Flash that browsing the Internet with an iPhone can be very hindering a vast majority of the time. Secondly, please give us the ability to transfer files - like ringtones, etc., with Bluetooth File Transfer Exchange capabilities! These two features would make the iPhone just about perfect in my book.

Wish spotlight search could jump to a specific calendar date. We both track future jobs on MS Outlook synced to two iPhones. Would be nice to look at selected date to check availability. Best I can do on iPhone is go to month view then use rt arrow to page to future month. My fat finger keeps hitting the "+" symbol. which is not what I want,

{font:Times New Roman}{size:3}As a new iPhone user (and lover) and a former Windows Mobile user, the one function I miss is the ability to import different Text Message alert sounds. For me this would be nice to see.{size}{font}

1) I would live a full size (foldable) Bluetooth keyboard which also holds the iPhone upright, so you can see the screen.
2) I would love the iPhone to be able to receive wireless video transmissions. (analog or digital).
3) I also would like the iPhone to be able to transmitt wireless video to an unused analog or digital TV channel.
4) I would like to be able to transmitt audio to any unused radio station frequency (ie. to my car radio) without using a 3rd party box.
5) I would like to be able to listen to standard AM/FM radio transmissions.

I see an occasional mention of this but some GLARING OMISSIONS (I've used an iPhone since it first came out):
1) Bluetooth on/off without the present minimum of 5 - 6 "gestures." (unlock, settings, general, bluetooth, on - that is BEST case, can be longer if you are not on home screen when you unlock). Surely they realize people would like to toggle bluetooth at will depending on their situation/location, when leaving car, etc.
2) An Application switcher! - going to the home screen to get from mail to safari, or from any app to any other app is ridiculous.. every other device has this (blackberry, pre, etc.) How can they overlook this for so long?
My .02.

For video editing, I would like a way to split one video file into two,
and be able to combine two files into one. Given that capability, if
you want to delete a section in the middle of the video, you can split
it at the beginning of the part you want to delete, then clip the
second video to remove that part, and then merge it again with the
first part. This capability should be easy enough to add to 3.1 instead of 4.0.
