Hey Dee !!
Is this a error message you are getting in the middle of the page , or
is this on the Bottom Left Hand corner of the browser. I know you said
your better half uses XP but , is this also on the same PC or is this Vista
and IE8 or XP and IE7 or 8 ?
Also, what kind of page are we talking about. Are these sites doing the same
thing on all of your PCs. One final. Have you tried another browser to see if this
happens?
How are trying to take that screen shot ? With an HP, you have to use the "fn" key
(bottom left hand of keyboard) AND the "prt sc" (print screen) key , at the same time. Then , bring
up Paint . Click on the "Edit" and click on "Paste". Next , go to "Image" and click
"Crop". You can then choose whatever is on the image with the cursor. Right click
on whatever part of the image you chose and in the context menu, click on "Copy To".
A box will appear . You can now choose to save the image to the folder of your liking.

Do you have multiple computers in the house? If so, when this happens, does it happen on only one computer or on all of them?
How do you access email? Through the web browser by logging into a webpage? Or do you use something like Outlook or Outlook Express or Thunderbird, etc? If the later and if this is happening on only one computer, can you still retrieve your email from the email server when you get this message in the Internet browser?

Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage
What you can try:
Diagnose Connection Problems
More information
This problem can be caused by a variety of issues, including:
Internet connectivity has been lost. The website is temporarily unavailable. The Domain Name Server (DNS) is not reachable. The Domain Name Server (DNS) does not have a listing for the website's domain. There might be a typing error in the address. If this is an HTTPS (secure) address, click Tools, click Internet Options, click Advanced, and check to be sure the SSL and TLS protocols are enabled under the security section.
For offline users
You can still view subscribed feeds and some recently viewed webpages.
To view subscribed feeds
Click the Favorites Center button , click Feeds, and then click the feed you want to view.
To view recently visited webpages (might not work on all pages)
Click Tools , and then click Work Offline.Click the Favorites Center button , click History, and then click the page you want to view.

Hey Dee !!
SP3 might not be helping things out. Has all of this been happening before
installation of SP3 or after ?
Have you tried to view your web pages in another browser ? ( ie. Firefox , Opera...)
For the screen capture , try it with this little gem Cropper .(click on blue words to read about it).
You can download from here Cropper screen capture .You will be asked to accept
license. It's very easy to operate.

Hey Dee !!
Ok, to see if you have the .Net Framework installed on your PC (XP ships with 1.1) ,
go to Start > Control Panel > Add / Remove . Now scroll down to "Microsoft .Net Framwork 1.1"
If it says 1.0 then , you will have to install the 1.1 before you install the 2.0 .
1.1 from here :
Microsoft .Net Framework 1.1 .
.Net Framework 2.0 :
Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0 .
I'm surprised that you didn't get this update from the Auto-Update in XP. You might also,
after this install, get more updates from Windows on the .Net Framework. It is now 3.5 SP1
but, most programs that do require the Net Framework , only use the 2.0 . So verify that you
do need this update from the Add / Remove program in XP. This is mine . I have taken the screen
capture with Cropper :

Just make sure that, when you take a screen shot with Any screen capture program , that
the jpg does not go over 500 x 500 pixel. Otherwise , the image will be fuzzy when you post
the image in this forum . Cropper will
tell you the size of the screen shot in the upper left hand corner as you drag it over the area
that you want to capture. Cropper will minimize to the Tray Area (Notification bar, Clock)
To start the program , you will double click on the white icon with the Cross Hair in the middle.
If you need any explanations on how to work the program or configure the settings, I will be
happy to help. But, it is very easy to use. One double click on the Cross Hairs and the screen
shot is taken and dropped in the folder that you have chosen.
Dee, have you tried another Browser to see if it does the same thing ??

I have comcast high speed
But how does this particular computer connect to that Comcast connection? Through a wired connection to a router or modem? Or through a wireless connection to a router (or modem if it has a wireless access point built in)?

:D Hi :
There is a Possibility, however small, that you MAY have unnecessary "Items" in your
"Hosts File" !? Do you use Spybot or a "specialized" Hosts File program ? To further
investigate this possibility, use the FREE "HijackThis" program, which can be downloaded
from www.filehippo.com/download_hijackthis ( get the latest Version ) . After
installation, start the program & click the "Open Misc Tools section" button, then click the
"Open hosts file manager" button. Info should appear and IF there is MORE than 1 "Item"
BELOW the "Explanation", computer "copy", then "paste" that Info into a Reply here .
