Help! PCW Answer Line Emails are Overwhelming Me!

For several months, email topic notification seemed to work as I wanted: if I replied to a thread, I was notified automatically by email of other responses. Now (beginning a few days ago) I get barraged by email notifications for threads that I haven't responded to or started.

Under Your Stuff>Preferences>Email Notification Preferences, I have only the first two items checked as "Yes." What else do I need to do to just receive email notices for topics I start or reply to? And, btw, what do the "Automatically Watch" preferences do?

Thanks.

I may have found the culprit! Under Your Stuff>Email Notifications>Email Notifications, I saw that "Answer Line" was a subscribed topic. I deselected it and will see if that was the problem.

Still curious about the "watch" function, however.

Hi,

I'm sorry you were having a problem. If you're still receiving emails, please take a look at {document:id=1250}

Thanks,
Bill

Bill - Thanks for the reply and the link. I had followed the instructions in the link several times before I posted. My problem, I believe, is that I must have inadvertently added "Answer Line" to my list of subscribed topics. I deselected it as I mentioned above and that may be the answer to my issue.

Thanks.

P.S. What does the "watch" function do?

Even thought you likely found your own answer and also got a reponse from Bill, I moved the thread to the PC World's Web Site forum as this is really a question about the website (and forum software). This is generally the best place for issues with the website as it is more likely to attract the attention of staff here (although Bill did see and respond to your post).
