When I have a PDF attachment and open it within Outlook Express it opens with Adobe Acrobat 6. Everything other PDF document opens with Adobe Reader 8.1. I've tried changing the file type association, but it just sets it back to Adobe Acrobat 6.

Have you tried temporarily removing Adobe Acrobat 6 (I assume it is the full version and that is why you still have it installed) and see if it will open in Adobe Reader 8.1? If it does, then reinstall Acrobat 6 and see if it will still "stay" with Reader 8.1.

and consider the FREE "Foxit Reader" from www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/reader/ .
