A few weeks back, my d-link dir615 started acting strange. I was able to connect fine wirelessly (running win7 RC), and so was my sister on her mac and the family computer (vista) which was hard wired to the router. However, my dad, on his laptop running xp was unable to get online. He could connect to the network ok wirelessly, but no websites would work and he could not see other computers on the network. I figured it was a problem with his computer's config, so I tried messing with a few things but most were disabled since it is a company laptop he has. So, I try to log into the router and it isn't found at 192.168.0.1. I try 192.168.1.1, as well as 10.0.0.a-few-things, but no luck. Anyways, I had an old router so I hooked it up (same setup as with the d-link) and everything is able to connect ok. I try a few ways of finding the address of the d-link, such as pinging websites when I was connected to it, running tracert and such, but to no avail. Also, now when I plug into the router (wireless has quit working completely) my computer sees the router, but no internet.

So, where should I go from here? Is there a way to remotely re-flash the router (tried a hard reset, got wireless light flashing, but still no internet and router wasn't accessable at 192.168.0.1)? Or is it just another brick?

Ok...Drunk ...Make story short .....Now ....none of pc can get online with your D link router ...... Is this correct ....?

You might need this firmware ..: drivers.softpedia.com/progDownload/DLINK-DIR-615-Rev-C-Firmware-301-Download-75301.html

That is correct, however I can't log into the router to flash any new firmware. Like doesn't linksys have a tool that you can use to flash their router from your computer? Will this work for a d-link also?

You can temporary use enthernet cale to one of your pc directly ....go on line and download the firmware ....

Better yet .....if you have the original cd software that come with the router .....just put it in and do a complete set-up again ....

When it works ....then download the firmware .....

If you still can not get online ...You better call ISP to find out what wrong .......

I assume by hard reset you mean pushing in the reset button for like 10 seconds. Is this correct?

I have tried running the router setup from the pc again, no luck. Still won't let me in at 192.168.0.1.

And yes, I tried a hard reset by simply holding in the reset with router on for ~10 seconds. I also tried holding the reset with cable unplugged, then plugging it in while still holding, but still nothing.

Kind of sounds like the router might be dead...or "deadish".

How old is that router?

One last simple test ...

Hook up the modem directly to main pc "Through Enthernet cable" ...(NO router) ........see if you can log on.......

If you can..........TIME FOR A NEW ROUTER ......

Get a netgear range max .....Its extremely easy to set up ....and after you register ...you can log in their site to reconfigure your router any time you want ....

It's not all that old. Maybe a year or so.

And I feared that it is dead. Never again will I buy D-link. Second one I've had shit out on my family and another one at my apt was almost unusable.
