I downgraded my HP Entertainment notebook ev6910us to XP Pro and now it won't reboot or shut down properly. The machine appears to be shutting down, but will stop and will appear to be in hibernate mode. I have to hold the power button down till the machine shuts off. Then it boots up normally on the next start-up.
I've upgraded the BIOS and turned off all the start-up programs in MSCONFIG, but it is still not rebooting/shutting down properly.
Thanks for any help on this.

Yes, I got all the XP drivers using DriverGuide. It found all but one. That one is listed in the Device Manager as "Other." Don't know what it is(?).
Some more background on this problem: I did a total re-install of a full XP version on a single partition. The machine won't restart or reboot when I shut it down. It appears to go into hibernate and I have to hold the power button down for ten seconds to power the machine down.
Thanks.

The BIOS states that the manaufacture OS is Vista. Is this BIOS somehow affecting the reboot process through some expected Vista MBR?
Thanks.
