Gotcha!

I use Norton and it's done a good job with spyware, usually just tracking cookies, but on occasion more serious stuff.

Thanks!

Nick, thanks for the article. However, instead of saying "You have to poke around in the help system to find out what the recommended actions are." why not tell us where the recommendations are hidden.

Mark, get off your soapbox. Your post is loud and rude.
If you don't like Microsoft, don't use it. You have other choices.

I've tried to download it twice. It seems the download link leads to a Microsoft Security Essentials beta, for which they are no longer accepting beta testers. Has the final not come out? Can you update your link for the final?

MARK,. WE DON'T LIKE ALL CAPS AND THEN HAVING COMMENTS WRITTEN IN THEM WITH TERRIBLE GRAMMAR AND PUNCTUATION, .. ,. ... ,.

And if millions were lined up to download it, how did I get it over 18 hours after it released?

As for eugenius: The beta was limited to the first 75,000 people who downloaded it. I don't endorse the idea but you can always get it illegally if you really need. There is no release for the final.

Actually. I read last week in one of the industry mags that Microsoft Security Essentials had edged out Norton 2009 in malware detection. It was considered excellent in its detection. It was one of the very top products tested.

Looks good........

"Another noted antivirus testing lab, AV-Comparatives.org, said it would formally test Security Essentials in August, and release its results the next month."

This test will really confirm things.

If you call that an article. They pulled comments from their posts...not really reliable.
