I have a Samsung SCX-4100 and Windows 7 RC installed. Windows 7 will recognize the printer driver but it will not recognize the scanner driver. I have tried the latest Vista driver from Samsung and it does not work. Any one figured out a way to make Windows 7 recognize / install the SCX-4100 as a scanner?

Hi nich and welcome to the PCWorld Communities. :D
We have seen a upswing in Windows 7 driver questions. Unfortunately for you, the answer will be the same. There is really nothing much you can do at this point but wait for the manufacturer to develop a driver specific to that device. In your case, the scanner functionality of the printer. I would advise you to contact the manufacturer and see if they have any drivers available that have not been released yet. I highly doubt it but it is worth a shot.

Hi,
From MS's website, download XP mode and see if that will work with your scanner.
http://www.microsoft...ows/virtual-pc/
If it will, from xp mode you can move the picture wherever you want. Copy/paste to W7.
I haven't tried this, I am curiuos if this will work for you.
Isn't this the purpose for XP mode???
please let us know how you make out.

Thanks for your responses... A little late though? I posted in June and it is now August? At any rate I did install XP Mode shortly after I posted my original problem and the scanner drivers work in that mode. The only probblem is that I needed another Software License for Adobe Acrobat 9. I had a license for an older version so I am using that.
Software suppliers should really allow you to install free licenses on "Virtual Machines" as long as the "host" machine has a license.

Sometimes threads fall through the crack. I cannot speak for everyone but I took a hiatus from moderating for about four months. Now that I am back, I felt it may be a good idea to see if any threads did fall through.

Are you referring to the Adobe issue or the scanner issue? I am presuming you mean the Adobe issue. In a normal circumstance, you should be able to contact Adobe to get a copy of the license for the latest version. I know, for something as small as the license for my movie collector software, I can contact them and have the serial emailed to me. If you have not contacted Adobe, it may be in your best interest to do so.
In any regard, thank you for responding to the late replies. This forum is full of people that are more than willing to help you in anything you do. If you have any other questions, please feel free to post.
