I am having a problem connecting one of my desktop computers to the internet. I am using a netgear wireless router and have it connected to two pc's and my playstation 3. The problem is that the connection works on one desktop and my ps3 but i get an error saying that there is little or no connectivity on the other pc. I have tried just about everrything I can think of. The tcp/ip box in network properties is checked and the computer also seems to have the same ip address as the network if that means something....?Please help! I am connecting to the internet via cable.

How are all three connected? All wireless? All wired? Or some wired and some wireless?

In particular, how is the problem computer connected? And which OS is it running? Any software firewall running or other security programs?

All three are connected by wires. It is running windows xp SP3. using avast anti-virus and zone-alarm firewall. I just recently switched to the wireless last night. I had a wired router for all three and everything worked pristine. But after switching to the wireless last night that problem started.

Have you tried another port on the router?

This computer was working fine with the other router, correct? Do you still have the other router? Can you put it back to see if it still works fine (just to rule out that somehow nothing went "bad" on the computer and it just happened to occur when you made the change...unlikely, but we should double check)? I assume when you made the switch that you used the same cables as before.

Are all three devices setup to use dynamic IP addressing (i.e. "get IP address automatically")?

The other router broke which is why I made the switch over. Yup, same cables as before. i will switch the ps3 cord into the desktop because they are in the same room and let you know how that goes. Yes all set up to get ip addresses manually & DNS automatically.

Switched the ps3 and pc cables and now the pc connects but not the ps3. all ports on the router are flashing so I assume that when my old router bit the dust last night it must have fried a cord? i also switched around ports and got the same results. Ran internet connection test on ps3 and it timed-out. the only thing i think it could be is the cable.

I would try another cable. It is possible that when disconnecting the old router and connecting the new router that one of the wires pulled loose in one of the ethernet connectors at the end of the cable.
