By definition, a phishing attack is an E-mail that purports to be from your bank, credit card company or maortgage broker and says that they need to update your parsonal information and directs you to their web site. This web site is set up to look exactly like the one you would actually use with that company online. They ask for your personal information, name, password, pin number, social security number, credit card number and drivers license number or any combination of the previous. If you read the original privacy statement when you first initially signed up online, you are directed to never give out that info and you will never be asked for that info by them. This should be the big clue that you're being targeted. No one is immune from these attacks. Dispite all the warnings and disclaimers placed by the real online associated companies, millions still far for them and that's what the originators are hoping for. The perpertrators figure that if they send out one hundred million messages and only get one hundred thousand to respond and they only get ten dollars from each, that adds up to one million dollars.
